Winter 2001


	South Park on hiatos from December 27 to sometime in the spring. Meanwhile... January 2, 2001 - Juz, of sweeet.com, announces the last month of Go Timmy Go on Stomped. The board closes down at 11 a.m. PST on January 31. Juz looks for a new home for his sites in February, and by the 12th he finds a home for his main sites, with the lesser ones coming online bit by bit. Vinnie returns to Beef-Cake's board. January 25, 2001 - Stardude3 announces the first SP fan convention at Denver and Fairplay, CO, this summer on June 29th, 30th, and July 1st. ACTIVITIES: Dinners, tours, costume party, guest speakers, and of course shopping for Southpark memorabilia, entertainment and PRIZES!! Reservations will not be accepted after March 1. February 18, 2001 - Saturday Players Artistic Director Lisa Gardner announces Cannibal! The Musical to debut off-Broadway on March 3. Liane the horse will be portrayed by an actor in costume. Trey Parker promises to attend the production. February 25, 2001 - Beef-Cake puts up an article purporting that Trey Parker is going to marry Mya, the R&B singer. A brief analysis of the article shows several errors on it, like the wrong ages for Trey and Mya, the idea that Colorado is still Trey's home, and the paper the report was from could not be found. Many readers submit corrections to Beef-Cake. February 27, 2001 - Canniballovers.com's "Dude, This Is So Fucked Up" reports that a lot of SP Web sites accepted this article without question. (This site accepted the article, but quickly removed it after investigating) March 2, 2001 - Juz begins to diversify. He announces the creation of a Dragonball Z site to begin now and to work on after South Park has run its course. March 4, 2001 - Go Timmy Go shows signs of life: A page appears announcing its return. Also, Beef-Cake prints a retraction to the Trey-Mya story. March 8, 2001 - Go Timmy Go reopens for business with three admins: Juz, Catpoo, and Jesus. Juz adds two mods and makes himself a mod, Catpoo adds xis mods, all of them regulars at SMAF. Goddamn will get special mention because he started Word Association last year, so he gets a mini forum for Word Association and related topics. Posts in those forums don't appear in your post total.

Spring 2001


	March 21, 2001 - Park Wars released its movie last Thursday, the 15th. It's shorter than hoped for, but there's a good reason for that: using 64 minutes of Episode 1 audio would have constituted plagiarism (Lucasfilms contacted the Park Wars creators about it), so the movie was made short enough to constitute a parody. It's still an awesome short to look at. The film is a QuickTime short, so get a QuickTime player at Apple if you can use it and don't already have it. The next project will be straight Star Wars. No SP reference in it. April 3, 2001 - "South Park Presents Timmy!" comes out on VHS. The episodes on tape: Timmy 2000 4th Grade Helen Keller, The Musical (aka Thanksgiving) A DVD is expected in May. April 4, 2001 - Trey and Matt were on KROQ, Los Angeles, being interviewed about That's My Bush. In that interview were a few blurbs abut the future of South Park: There are no plans to make another big screen South Park movie. They fear that doing another one that isn't as good as the first will make people feel bad about liking the first one. They discussed killing characters off and ending the series soon. Trey said that Cartman is the little kid inside of him that he can't bring himself to put away and still loves doing the show as much as he did in the begining, but restated that they figure they'll hang up the show after about 120 episodes or so (around 2 years or so from now). April 11, 2001 - Paul Wein, the South Park Booster Club Moderator, announces the arrival of South Park Studios on April 17. The site is to have a message board and lots of insider stuff right from the South Park Studios in Los Angeles. Also, Comedy Central's website, www.comedycentral.com/southpark, as well as all of Comedy Central sites are being relaunched with a whole new look. It will have the same great stuff as well as message boards, instant messaging and much more. April 13, 2001 - Ananova reports that Eminem will make an appearance in South Park by this coming Christmas, and he is expected to record what may turn out to be a Christmas single. This bit of news hits the airwaves the followng Monday. But since that information came from the London Sun, it can be taken with a grain of salt, and there's no confirmation from anybody in South Park about it. April 18, 2001 - Taison Tan and Jonathan "Elvis" Davis get positions at the South Park Studios, via Kung Fu Design, so they close Beef-Cake down to work on SPStudios. Elvis reported on Beef-Cake earlier that these were volunteer positions, so maybe neither he nor Taison were to be paid. They bring the sounds with them and give their images to Sweeet.com. They discard the scripts, as the Studios have the originals and export them to PDF for fans to download. Also, KeriAnn Martin, from DTISFU, gets a position at the Studios, and she'd going to be paid. This means that maybe the Beef-Cake guys will be paid, too - we'll have to wait and see. There's no more needling the guys at the Hellhole, as Taison and Elvis have gone on to the official SP site. That South Park Studios exists, and that Taison and Jon work there, are testament to Trey and Matt's regard for Beef-Cake. Trey and Matt used to go to Beef-Cake to see what was going on in the SP world - Taison usually had the news before anyone else - and they liked his site a lot. But it wasn't the official site, and so they determined to put up a site that would have the latest South Park news direct from themselves and the studios they work at. April 19, 2001 - SPStudios adds polls, every South Park download out there (excluding episodes), and secret insider news. Also, it reports that episode 501 will air on June 20th, and seven more will follow, the last one airing August 8. This completes the summer run. Also, rumor has it that Comedy Central is looking into creating Tweek and the Underpants Gnomes plush dolls complete with voice chips (just like Timmy). And, the first South Park Convention will be moved up two weeks to June 15-17 and will take place in Denver and Fariplay. April 20, 2001 - SPStudios reports that Matt is planning on re-recording Kenny's muffled lines for our opening theme. This will be version 3.0 since we all keep figuring out what Kenny is saying. April 25, 2001 - The 15th Annual American Comedy Awards airs on Comedy Central. "South Park" was nominated for Funniest Animated TV Series along with "King of the Hill" and "The Simpsons", but lost the award to "The Simpsons." April 27, 2001 - South Park Studios reports that it and comedycentral.com will present a live chat with Matt Stone and Trey Parker Thursday May 10th 5:00 pm PDT. That would be 1:00 a.m. GMT, 8:00 p.m. EDT. May 10, 2001 - The chat lasts for an hour, with at least 30 chat rooms present. One of the South Park Forum's admin, Catpoo, does screen grabs of the event and transcribes it, posting it at Go Timmy Go. The South Park Studios produces the official one a few days later, in PDF format. May 13, 2001 - "How's Your News" is coming next year! May 14, 2001 - Jonathan Davis is released from Kung Fu Design due to "budget cuts/schedule changes," but he promises the fans the real story at Beef-Cake when it reopens. Juz is helping him with the site's new look. May 16, 2001 - This year's upcoming video releases: South Park Presents Timmy! (DVD, and out on VHS) Timmy 2000 4^th Grade Helen Keller, The Musical (DVD only) Tooth Fairy (aka Touth Fairy's Tats 2000) South Park's Winter Wonderland (DVD and VHS) A Very Crappy Christmas Are You There, God? It's Me, Jesus. Something You Can Do With Your Finger (DVD only) Cartman's Funny Little Hate Crime May 17, 2001 - Poinko begins a thread at GTG that discusses Elvis' departure from SPS. The next day SPS' Butters chimes in to say that he works on the site for free, as he's paid for being assistant to Anne Garefino, not for being a webmaster. So if someone who works at the Studios is doing this for free, it confirms the earlier report that Elvis and Taison were going to work on the site as volunteers, even if they did work for Kung Fu Design. May 21, 2001 - From South Park Studios: SightSound Ramps up Selection, Demonstrates Distribution System Capabilities With 20 New Titles Every Week: Among the titles offered: SP:BLU and six collectible SP episodes. Animated encounter with Terry Gilliam: SP:BLU is on Gilliams' Top Ten. May 22, 2001 - In the new issue of TV Guide, Trey and Matt are listed among The Bold Ones: 2001, highlighting their shows, South Park and That's My Bush! May 26, 2001 - Matt Stone turns 30 May 28, 2001 - Sweeet.com turns 3. May 30, 2001 - The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presents "Welcome to South Park," an evening with Matt and Trey May 30 at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theater in North Hollywood. Eric Idle hosts the event. SPStudios announces a new chat room for the fans, but the opening date is yet to be announced. Info on th eevent is now at South Park Studios. June 1, 2001 - DTISFU has a short that says Trey and Matt will become politically correct "for the children" this season. Also, Ananova repeats the rumor it came out with on April 13, adding only that Bravo mentions Kenny will be replaced by a character called Damian, but a search of the site turned up nothing. June 5, 2001 - South Park Big Brother is now playing at Sotuh Park X. June 11, 2001 - South Park Studios reports that the first episode of season 5 will have Cartman saying "shit." When the episode airs, it's said 162 times (I got 161, though) June 14, 2001 - From South Park Studios: "Well it looks like #501 (the pubic hair episode) will be the fourth show to air this season. More news later." June 15-17, 2001 - First US South Park Convention, at Denver and Fairplay. Vinnie resigns as moerator of The Buzz. June 17, 2001 - South Park Studios holds its first online contest. Prizes are a Vespa ET2 Scooter (Grand Prize), a script from this episode autographed by Trey and Matt ()First Prize, or an SP DVD, Plush, and T-shirt package (Second Prize). June 19, 2001 - Beef-Cake has reopened. :) It's about time! It resumes producing sounds and images, but now it sends the images over to Sweet so Sweet can distribute them. Elvis is now the Webmaster there, as Taison has moved on to bigger things. Throughout the summer, Elvis reveals more about his dispute with Kung Fu Design over the amount of money he should be paid for his time at SPStudios. June 20, 2001 - South Park Studios reports that new videos will be out on November 7. See the May 16 entry for details on the videos. Episode 502, "It Hits The Fan", kicks off the fifth season.

Summer 2001


	June 21, 2001 - With 162 "shits" the show starts this season off with a bang. I counted 161, with a gasp being counted as a "shit" for 162 total. Everyone else gets from 163 to 169. It also offers a description for the June 27 show. June 23, 2001 - South Park Studios announces the winner of its "shit" count contest, June 25, 2001 - South Park Studios announces the next several episodes, including Big Gay Al in "Cripple Fight" and Radiohed in "Scott Tenorman Must Die." July 6, 2001 - Ze latest... Icebox is back! With the Mr. Wong episodes, too. They will soon be on DVD. July 13, 2001 - Cannibal! The Musical musical will continue at the Kraine theater in New York, until August 4. July 14, 2001 - Saturday's re-run of "Scott Tenorman Must Die," shows Kenny's ghost laughing out of his body when he dies. I'd still like to know where to get a clip or episode of that. Juz is thinking of closing Sweeet. Read the personal log. For two weeks after this day he has troubles with Sweeet and GoTimmyGo. July 17, 2001 - South Park Studios provides two titles for the episode coming up. First it was "Terrance & Garfunkel" and "Terrance & Phillip: True Hollywood Story." They settle on "Terrance and Phillip: Behind the Blow." iFilm was showing "Your Studio and You," a "primer" on how to update a movie studio (in this case, Universal), online. In 1995, the year this short was made, MCA (and Universal with it) was bought by Seagram's, which explains the Seagram's coolers being handed out. Five days later, iFilm pulls "Your Studio And You" off the site at Universal's request. Universal says the short wasn't meant for public broadcast, and it's concerned for the rights of the actors who made cameos there. July 18, 2001 - Beef-Cake has been restoring some good media from the last four years of the show in the last few days. July 19, 2001 - DTISFU reports that Trey Parker and Lisa Faulkner have split up due to her career in TV dramas in England. She tried her luck in Hollywood, but that didn't work out, either. Beef-Cake has a report on Radiohead playing in South Park, England, a few days before they appeared in "Scott Tenorman Must Die." Nice caricatures of Stan, Kyle and Cartman on those shirts. All proceeds from those shirts are going to charity. Four days later, the South Park Studios provides more information on the shirts. July 20, 2001 - South Park Studios has some info on next year's South Park Convention. Beef-Cake's Elvis has made an uncut version of "Terrance & Phillip: Behind The Blow" (the video inside the episode, not the episode itself), as well as of the actual Cripple Fight. South Park Studios has made its own uncut version of the fight. July 25, 2001 - SPStudios and DTISFU both mention Monday's L.A. Times article Counting on Their 'Celebrity', which simply confirms that Trey and Matt will have some air time in the 30-minute FOX Planet of the Apes special tonight at 8 p.m. July 26, 2001 - DTISFU has a clip and snapshots from yesterday's Planet Of The Apes special with Trey and Matt in them, as well as their DVDA song, which is more a tribute to the original movie rather than the one opening tomorrow. Have a look at it. July 27, 2001 - SPStudios mentions a short article, "Radiohead Develop Sense of Humor", in Rolling Stone magazine about Radiohead's appearing in "Scott Tenorman Must Die." I scanned it in and posted it here. DTISFU mentions an article at the Dallas Observer extolling South Park as the funniest show of the season, and it has a larger scan of the Rolling Stones article.. July 31, 2001 - South Park Studios' Behind the Scenes reveals there have been three Visitor sightings already this season: one in "It Hits the Fan" and two more in "Super Best Friends." (One of them is Jesus' reflection in the Hall of Super Best Friends) And there will be one in "Proper Condom Use." These sightings may go into a contest by South Park Studios, I don't know when that information will be used, but I ain't holding my breath. Also, CrapTV, has some Parker and Stone News: CRAPtv's front page has the "Lapdance '01" DVD ready for sale. It featuresa musical performances by DVDA and Special Guest Les Claypool, and an interview with Trey Parker. It's been on sale since June 1. And, CRAPtv's BBS has a post by Jason McHugh saying that CRAPtv will be producing the special features for the Orgazmo DVD, which should be pretty chock full o hot action!!!! But eBay has beat them to the punch: eBay already has a few Orgazmo DVDs at auction. August 2, 2001 - Elvis has a link to a news article from Yahoo! stating that That's My Bush is headed for the Big Screen after being canceled by Comedy Central. Proposed title: George W. Bush and the Secret of the Glass Tiger. Work will begin on this during hiatus. DTISFU has a similar report from Zap2it. August 6, 2001 - Season 5 hath 14 episodes: South Park Studios' Behind the Scenes mentions the second half of the season, six episodes, starting on November 7 and ending on December 12. August 14, 2001 - Elvis finally tells the tale of how he got fired. From the looks of it, the company that hired him reneged on a contract, claiming budget cuts due to unforeseen circumstances. Elvis believes his firing is directly related to the hacking done on the South Park Studios BBS last May. And he and Kung Fu Design could not agree on how much he should get. The range is from $170 to $4000. August 16, 2001 - Chris Beyond, of No-Fi Magazine, is planning a Spook-a-thon Movie Festival at The Orpheum Theatre in Downtown L.A. from October 26 to the 27th. Cannibal! The Musical is on the list of films that will play at the Festival. August 21, 2001 - Elvis' Storytime continues. So far, still no $170 check. August 24, 2001 - On South Park Studios, Matt Stone reveals that Barbrady's voice is based on Dennis Prager's voice. Prager is a talk radio host. Trey directed a Dennis Prager video called "For Goodness Sake II," made in 1996 and went straight to video. August 29, 2001 - Well, Comedy Central comes through! :) Now you can purchase the vibrating Tweek doll and/or Tweek T-shirt. September 4, 2001 - I split the character gallery in two, so that one site, South Park Biographies, will have just the guest stars, while the other, Welcome to my South Park prep room, will have places to see in South Park, stories in pictures, and characters in costume. Man, that took four hours! September 5, 2001 - Found at DTISFU: The Movie Musical Is Back. The Salt Lake Tribune article mentions, The best animated musical in the last few years was, of all things, "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut" (1999), a brilliant skewering of movie-musical conventions. Maybe that has a bearing on the three musicals out this year, so far: O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Moulin Rouge, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. And I do love musicals. :) September 8, 2001 - Well, the day has come: Juz is moving his sites to a new server, so Beef-Cake, Sweeet, and GTG are all down for a while. But there's more to it than that. Juz says that Sweeet and GTG have been "lost" - HDD on host machine died. And he lost his backups earlier this week when he had to reinstall. The sites will be down indefinitely... Meanwhile, here at the Scriptorium, I'm adding the guests for the fifth season in the South Park Biographies. Two more epiosdes to go, and then summaries for their roles will appear. Having said that, Beef-Cake will be back up soon, but Elvis is pretty busy these days, so it may take months before the site is fully loaded as it was before. Sweeet and GoTimmyGo are back up, on a new host, so go and register at GTG. In other news, well, you all know of our new Day of Infamy, September 11, 2001, 8:48, 9:05, and 10 am. EDT. Set aside a moment for the victims of the terrorist attacks. Know that the American spirit remains unbroken, the American will unbent, though its buildings fall and its people perish. September 16, 2001 - Two items comin' atcha! The first is a request from Dave at SP Games for all fan sites to post this lovely picture he made as a way to show support for the families of victims of the terrorist attacks last Tuesday, the various people working on search and recovery, and the leaders here in the United States and around the world as they figure out what steps to take to stop terrorism from going any further. On that site he has this link, Thank You, but that page often goes down due to the large number of pictures one has to wait for before the page is finished downloading, so you may want to look at the original thread if the page is down. 	September 24, 2001 - Are you ready for war? Go over to the Columns and read the latest one to see if you are ready. September 29, 2001 - Update on the Orgazmo DVD coming out soon - here's the questionnaire again, but with a new e-mail address. October 4, 2001 - The Workshop message board has closed its doors. October 5, 2001 - Beef-Cake is back, but its glory days are behind it now. Too much has happened to the site for Elvis to restore it all, and like many of us, he's a workin' man. And if you've read his Storytime on Beef-Cake and on Geocities, you'll already know he's tried to close the site a few times already, starting with the closure just before South Park Studios opened, but fan clamor brought him back to the site each time. If the site returns, it won't have screen grabs, and its sound archive will go back only a few episodes. Cyberryan's South Park Sounds Haven added to the Directory. October 9, 2001 - Sweeet is up and running agian, and juz has most of his artwork back. If you have any artwork he's missing, send it to him here. October 15, 2001 - I removed the ratings and added the Guest Stars to the Script Guide and revamped the South Park Biographies as Guest Stars. October 21, 2001 - Happy belated Birthday (October 19) to Trey Parker, now 32. Seventeen days for part II of season 5 to begin. October 23, 2001 - Found at the South Park Forum: Webuser Magazine has listed its top 20 South Park Web sites. Sweeet comes in at #3, Beef-Cake comes in at #17. Beef-Cake is closing its doors. November 2, 2001 - Smiley Town is gone, so another SP site bites the dust. November 7, 2001 - Part II of season 5 begins with "Osama Bin Laden has Farty Pants." Its title briefly changed to "Osama Bin Laden has a Tiny Penis," but was changed back. The tiny penis can be found in the episode, though. :D November 8, 2001 - Breayle reports that servicemen have already inundated South Park Studios with requests to see it again. November 9, 2001 - The ladies at DTISFU have a clip of "Osama bin Laden Has Farty Pants" that was part of a FOX entertainment item. The last scene, which didn't make it into the episode, is Stan bringing in the box the Afghan boys had sent him and asking for scissors. Randy tells him to take the box back outside and play with it. Randy returns to the kitchen as Stan pushes the box back to the entrance. The parents then remember the potential danger and spring into action. The part that didn't make it into the episode is Sharon screaming as she jumps in the air, her body stretched out like a rubber band. November 17, 2001 - Color change on the front page. I figure it's time to match the background to the color of Ms. Choksondik's classroom wall. November 22, 2001 - Found in the SPS FAQ: A DVD with four episodes from Season 5 will be released in June of 2002. Knowing that DVDs are released at the end of the year, though, what will be released in June won't be a DVD, but a VHS with four Season 5 episodes November 26, 2001 - The end of the end of irony, thanks to South Park and TV Guide. :) November 29, 2001 - Some Trey and Matt News! They will be honored along with Neil Young by the People For The American Way Foundation, an anti-Jerry Falwell organization dedicated to "American values that uphold a diverse democratic society," at the organization's 20th anniversary dinner at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California December 11. All recipients have "taken public stands to support a free, open, and democratic society through their art and work, educating while entertaining and courageously addressing today's most fundamental and political issues," according to a spokesperson for the organization. December 2, 2001 - Here's an update from SPS on the November 16 FAQ (check out the Timeline) concerning the next DVD release: The next South Park DVD will include four episodes from the first half of Season Five. That sucker should hit the shelves sometime in June of 2002. The four episodes included are "It Hits the Fan," "Cripple Fight," "Scott Tenorman must Die," and "Proper Condom Use." So quit asking! December 5, 2001 - Breayle reports in chat that Kenny isn't dead forever. He'll be back. December 7, 2001 - There's more to read at South Park Studios, but this blurb is the main thing today: The new episodes will begin in March 2002. We here at SPS.com will still be hanging out during the break and will keep you up to date for new information as soon as we get it. December 10, 2001 - DTISFU reports that Penelope Cruz really REALLY wants to do a voice-over for South Park, but Parker and Stone haven't returned her calls about it. And Sweeet's Catpoo mentions a Reuter's report in which Matt and Trey will appear at The U.S. Comedy Arts Festival sometime between February 27 and March 3 this coming year. December 12, 2001 - Update on the Nov. 29 report concerning Neil Young: He received the Spirit of Liberty Lifetime Achievement Award, and Trey and Matt received the Defender Of Democracy Award. Also, "Butters' Very Onw Episode" brings forth the following changes: The Swansons are now the Stotches, Carol is now Linda, and we know the father's name now: Chris. Now updating the other pages. Now we have Linda Williams (Token's mother), and Linda Stotch. December 13, 2001 - Tentative starting date for South Park Season 6 from South Park Studios: March 6. Stay tuned for changes in the starting date, though. December 20, 2001 - Gobbles sent me this bit of news a few moments ago: Westlife gets South Park style, or at least their own cartoon.
