    I sent in for mine as soon as the DVDs were released too and still haven't gotten anything. No doubt they are making sure that the folks who buy the DVDs from Comedy Central are taken care of first! I called last week. They had me on their computer. They have my money. But, they said they have not shipped ANY of them out yet and couldn't tell me when they would be going out. Our punishment for saving a little money.

  4. January 6, 2003 - Happy Epiphany!!! Zuzu found a bunch of articles about South Park in the year-end lists of various publications. Read about them here! Some notes: The Concord & Kannapolis Independent Tribune prediction for 2003 concerning U.S. Rep. Robin Hayes ... "Blame Canada" has been the battle cry of coservatives for eight months or so now now, as they point out how easy it is for terrorists to cross the border into the U.S. up there; these conservatives have taken to playing that song to drive their point home. And The Star Ledger's Alan Sepinwall's quote on the sharpness of South Park bears repeating:
    "Yes, it's gleefully disgusting and juvenile, but there's more to "South Park" than bad language and gross-out humor. There's a genuine sense of outrage at the stupidity, selfishness and injustice in this world. Trey Parker and Matt Stone's simple-looking creation became more sophisticated than ever this year, with scathing spoofs of the Catholic Church scandals, politicians and musicians who exploited 9/11 for personal gain, Russell Crowe and TV psychic John Edward. At times it was sicker than ever, notably in depicting the adventures of class pet Lemmiwinks, which I can't remotely describe here. But whether being smart or stupid, "South Park" remains a comedy treasure."

  6. January 17, 2003 - Valentine's Day is coming in a month, so it's time for you South Park lovers to do something special! Karen (Mackey_Cake) sends this bit of fun:
    It's the South Park "I Love You Guys" Valentine's Day Contest. Here's the deal. There are 14 Valentines each with a different SP character on it. What you need to do is supply the greeting for the card or cards of your choice. Greeting(s) must be original and fit the theme of the card and also the personality of the character on the card.
    You can enter up to 14 times, but you must enter a different character each time. The more characters you enter, the better your chances of winning.
    Entries will be judged by a panel of 4 judges for originality, creativity and appropriateness to character. Winner will receive a brand new South Park Stan plush cell phone holder, courtesy of Fun Friends, Inc.and Collecting South Park. (This item not available in stores, as of this writing.)
    Contest runs from January 14th through February 14th. Winner to be announced on or about February 16th.

  9. January 22, 2003 - Comedy Central Fiasco on South Park Season 1 Commentaries!!! This I found on the South Park Studios BBS:

    I got Season One for a Christmas present (I knew I was going to get it, so I didn't buy it in Nov.). The half-ass job WB did ticked me off, but I decided if the commentary was good I'd let that slide. But today, my letter to El Paso came back saying the P.O. box was closed. Apparently they've run out of CDs.
    NB: Comedy Central is the one distributing the commentaries, not Warner Brothers. Apparently, breayle is aware of the problem, for this is part of an answer in the latest FAQs: "However, I cannot gaurentee you will be able to get the free audio commentary disc. You might have to wait for copies to be sold by indivuduals on places like Ebay.com."
    Since then, other people have reported their letters sent back. My check was cashed on December 20, but I still haven't gotten my commentaries. And I thought Paramount was bad with its DVD releases. :(

  11. January 27 - Anybody know German? If so, and if you have the TMB episode "S. D. I - Aye - AYE!", please send me the German words and their English translations for the Austrian sections of that ep. I've put up what I have, but it's not complete without the German. Thanks in advance.
  12. January 28 - Thanks, Janina, for the German in the episode, and the English tranlsations. :) Thanks, too, Kenny. Some of the German in the episode, they both say, seems to be cobbled together, as it doesn't make sense to native speakers. I've also worked with a German dictionary and Babelfish. The translations are now in the transcript, and the text I'm still not sure about is in parentheses, so if there's any way to clean that up, lemme know. Thanks.

  20. March 2, 2003 - Mattt of CrapTV is offering a unique opportunity for anyone who wants to know what Matt Stone knows! Got any questions for him? Ask now or forever hold your peace. Sign up for that board if you're interested. And there's good news, and there's bad news. South Park will be around for at least two more seasons, so there will be an eighth season, but there likely won't be an SP:BLU sequel. Trey says, "The more our ratings go down, the better the show becomes. We don't give a shit!" Parker and Stone will reunite with producer Scott Rudin (The Hours) for a political, world-themed comedy that's far removed from Park. More news in that link above on their Lifetime Achievement Award at the Santa Monica Film Festival, and their view of Sundance.

    Tomorrow, Mardi Gras! Eat up, if you're observing Lent! Never mind if you're not. :D Anywho, Havoc found this article, about the going rate for tooth fairies. If you remember "Tooth Fairy's Tats 2000", you'll know that the boys were going for a buck a tooth. The humor piece observes that teeth are still going for 25 cents a tooth, but "The average child loses 48 teeth per week between ages three and twelve." Check out the suggestions for things a fairy can leave under junior's pillow that won't leave him/her in the poor house.
  22. March 6, 2003 - A poster on Go Timmy Go found the following passage on rotten.com:
    [Does Minister Louis Farrakhan] really inspire any more fear or respect than your average everyday American black man? Just ask communist homosexual South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who backed down from airing an episode of their cartoon ridiculing Farrakhan's Nation of Islam because they didn't want to end up like Minister Malcolm X, whom Farrakhan likely had killed for disagreeing with cult founder Elijah Muhammad!
    The truth is, no episode exists ridiculing Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. At the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, on March 7, 1998, Matt said:
    STONE: We wanted to do an episode with the Nation of Islam, a whole episode about that. [audience reacts] And Comedy Central wouldn't let us do it. Not because - I mean, they were like fine with the humor and fine with all that, but they just, you know, feared that they would get bombed and we would get lynched. So…
    PARKER: So we're going to do it in the Fall. [laughter]
    STONE: Now we've got a little more clout, maybe we'll be able to do it.
    They never did make it. Comedy Central wouldn't let them. But are they communist homosexuals? No. They're libertarian hedonists! :D
    March 12, 2003 - On Jimmy Kimmel tonight, ABC, 12:05 am, Jeff Ross (co-host); Lorenzo Lamas; "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker; rappers Smiles and Southstar. (VCR Plus+ 1360329) Stay up and stay tuned! And look for Norman Lear as guest writer on the show! From Yahoo, The Washington Post, and The Herald Tribune. In short,
    Norman Lear, the Emmy-winning producer of TV's "All in the Family," said Wednesday he will collaborate on several episodes of the crude - and crudely animated - Comedy Central satire "South Park."
    Among the subjects he hopes to mock on the show, about four foul-mouthed little boys and their conflicts with the world, are the U.S. push for war in Iraq, reality TV shows and immigration.
  23. March 13, 2003 - Recap on the Jimmy Kimmel segment with Matt and Trey: they talked about the show a bit, then about BASEketball (including the kissing scene between Remer and Cooper), then about Norman Lear coming in to write an episode of the show with Matt and Trey. You can consider Trey and Matt on record as being against a war in Iraq, being entertainers and all. :) Commercials on Comedy Central indicate that Kenny will indeed be back in the lineup.   1. March 23, 2003 - From Karen, Collecting South Park's Webmistress: Collecting South Park has just launched their new Easter Contest: Elvin's Easter Eggstravaganza! It will run officially from Sunday, March 23rd through Easter Sunday, April 20th.
    All eggs are worth 1 point a piece and are hidden throughout the CSP website. If you find any of the 6 hidden Easter Bunnies, they are 10 points a piece. If you find all 6, you get an additiona 75 bonus points. The one with the most points at the end of the contest is the winner.
    The winner will receive a Brand New 6" Pinkeye Cartman Plush Doll. It will be a hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind plush, inspired by the episode that started it all.
  2. March 31, 2003 - There's a South Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. :) Lots of breaking news today! Read on!
    'South Park' will subvert through '05. Woohoo!!! The article says Matt and Trey have signed on for two more years of South Park after this year, at 15 eps a year, for a total of 141 episodes. Subtracting 30 eps, and 96 eps for the first six seasons, and you get 15 episodes for season 7. Their new contract also offers a tenth season of 15 episodes if they want it. :) Confirmation of this report at Comedy Central Press! TV Guide has an interview with Trey, Matt, and Norman Lear in today's online edition. Here's more info on why episodes are aired Out Of Order. Based on that, 704 was simply the easiest to finish.
  3. April 1, 2003 - E! Online has more info on M&T's new contract, their top-secret movie, and the role Lear has on the show this season. Highlights:

    The deal requires the dirty-minded duo to produce 15 episodes per season, starting with seven episodes next spring and eight to follow in the fall. The multi-talented creators-producers-directors-writers-actors had been producing 17 episodes per season for the last two seasons but managed to negotiate that number down for the current season and over the next two years.
    As for the diminished schedule of 15 episodes per season, Parker explains the move: "We want to make sure we keep our summers open. We want to be able to do movies. Or goof around and sit on our ass. Maybe finally start our microbrewery. We just turned in the script for our top-secret movie with Scott Rudin. So we may need some time to work on that down the road. That's what summer is for."
    Helping to lighten the load, should Parker and Stone need additional goof-off time, is All in the Family mastermind Norman Lear, who met the duo at last year's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Last month, Lear sat in on a South Park writer's retreat and pitched ideas for the upcoming season. The 80-year-old reportedly contributed to at least seven episodes, including at least one in which Cartman meets the Founding Fathers.
  4. April 3, 2003 - "Toilet Paper" is a good ep, and I found it pretty funny throughout, but the reliance on references, especially the Hannibal Lecter movies, belies the claim that Matt and Trey have hit their stride as far as writing is concerned. A couple of people I've talked to said they could have written the episode, so pedestrian was it.
  5. April 8, 2003 - The South Park Studios BBS is back! In a whole new format! To get in, though, you must reset your password in your profile. After you get the confirmation email, you'll be able to post in the BBS with no problem. It's best to go there from the site.
  6. April 29, 2003 - Check out these South Park fanfics by Golden0074! Another question for you: The boys told the old couple they got their ideas of how the husband would go about getting the pie. The scenario involves the man chopping his wife to bits and getting rid of the body parts. They said they've been looking at the news, so what news item is the scenario based on?

    Allright, let me clear this up. He did not win a contest. What happend was a few months ago Elton John had an AIDS benefit. Matt and Trey auctioned off a "guest voice" appearance to raise money for the AIDS benefit. So it wasn't a contest, it was a guest appearance by the person who won the auction.

  10. May 23, 2003 - People have been asking me what song is playing when Timmy and Jimmy are walking to the liquor store in "Krazy Kripples." The answer is... I don't know any more than you do what that song is. The words don't match any lyrics I've found on Google.

May 28, 2003 - Just got this from Bas Paap: preorder South Park: The Complete Second Season with Best Buy and you'll receive an exclusive bonus disc that contains the complete, unaired version of the episode Cartman Gets an Anal Probe (that should have been on the Season 1 DVDs. Mrrr.). Click on the link to find out what Eric Stough has to say about that pilot ep. Also, DTISFU is closing down after five years of adulating and jabbing Matt and Trey (all that LotR stuff sent it over the top, IMO). Read its final comments here. I don't think they'll give any of their archive to anyone, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
  12. June 2, 2003 - Preorder the Season 1 figurines at Wicked Cool Stuff! Word is that Tweek will indeed be in the set, not Butters.
  13. June 3, 2003 - Season 2 boxed DVD is released. Some sets, which you can get at any Best Buy store - no need to pre-order - come with the bonus unaired pilot episode of South Park, which is six minutes longer and has scenes either deleted, rearranged, or sent to later episodes.

  15. June 7, 2003 - Cartman's Original Family. The picture below shows Cartman's father and sister in the pilot episode for South Park, before Matt and Trey redid it as "Cartman Gets An Anal Probe." Taken from the bonus DVD that comes with the Season 2 DVDs.

  16. June 13, 2003 - Here's your chance to win the SP Season 1 and 2 DVD sets. No word on the availability of the unaired pilot with the sets.
  17. June 17, 2003 - In recent months we've seen the closure of two long-standing sites: Sweeet and Mr. Hat's Hellhole. Sweeet was Justin Trevena's personal site for 2D and 3D pics of episode scenes, and Mr. Hat's Hellhole was one of the two biggest sites in the first two years of the show. For a while, all that was left of Sweeet was a splash page and a picture of Bart Simpson (in "Smells Like Teen Spirit" spoof) done in Flash, and the Hellhole lost its domain to become once again an overthelimit site. You may recall that Mr. Hat's Hellhole was famous for fan art, fan literature, and fan parodies, before it began to turn on its fans (by going with a layout the fans didn't choose and by keeping fan lit that its authors requested be removed). Now it turns out that Toyzz has bought both domains, so if you go to either of them, you'll be going to a Toyzz site. Now, Beef-Cake (once famous for news, episode stills, episode sounds, and SP exclusives when Taison hung out with the boys) is still around, but has only been updated twice since Christmas. If IT closes down and loses its domain, I can imagine Toyzz buying it up as well.
    Toyzz is selling the rare South Park Cow and Sparky the Dog Plush dolls, as well as Mr. Hankey and Simon.

Summer 2003

  1. June 20 - 23, 2003 - South Park Convention 3 in Denver, CO.
  2. June 25, 2003 - It is confirmed! Here's Matt and Trey's Thunderbirds-type movie! This was first mentioned back on October 17 last year in this article. More news on the movie, called Team America.
    Team America evolved from another puppet-based project the duo had on the drawing board. (probably the aforementioned short)
    "It started when we got snuck a script of The Day After Tomorrow, that Roland Emmerich movie about how global warming causes an ice age in two days," says Stone. "It's the kind of script where you know it's going to make hundreds of millions of dollars, which makes it the greatest dumb script ever."
    "We planned to secretly shoot that movie with puppets, word for word, and release it on the same day. We thought that would have been hilarious, but our lawyer convinced us we wouldn't get it released."
    Any info on the short in Bowling for Columbine having Matt-n-Trey involvement is just plain wrong.
  3. July 4, 2003 - Happy Independence Day!!!
    And on a sad note, Barry White, 58, passed away on this day. He died from kidney failure after years battling kidney disease and hypertension. He was originally considered for the role of Chef on South Park, but he couldn't do it, so the role went to Isaac Hayes. One of White's songs, "Never Never Gonna Give You Up," was featured in "Proper Condom Use" when Mr. Mackey and Ms. Choksondik begin making love in her pad.
  4. July 6, 2003 - So, was SP:BLU on CC Bigger, Longer, and Uncut? As far as language goes, yes. Not as far as length or picture goes - the movie was presented in pan & scan instead of widescreen, the credits went by quickly (time-compression, heh), the two closing songs were not played, and Ike's line at the very end wasn't presented.
  5. July 15, 2003 - Lyrics heard in Krazy Kripples. Many of the words aren't here because the characters speak over them. Do any songs come to mind?

  6. July 21, 2003 - Update on the lyrics heard in Krazy Kripples: Breayle asked around and found that they were made by the show's house band, so you won't find these lyrics anywhere. These lyrics are another South Park original.

August 2, 2003 - Long-time visitors to this site may remember when I had the guests in seasonal pages - Season 1 had its own guest page, Season 2 had its own guest page, etc. Four years ago, after the SP:BLU came out, I split the pages up into episode pages so they could go along with the secrets and guests. Now I'm reassembling them so you can choose between episode pages and seasonal pages for the guests' bios.   10. August 7, 2003 - Access Hollywood will celebrate South Park's 100th episode as well as the show's sixth anniversary.
  11. August 12, 2003 - What'll happen now? I've been downloading several animes over the past six weeks and noticed that they're all rather massive - AVI format between 160 and 210 megs in size - and they all have a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Needless to say, they make for wonderful programs to watch at that resolution. Will the next wave of South Park episode downloads be that massive, both in size and resolution? I've seen this question raised in one message board, but answered that for now, South Park eps will still be distributed in RM format, at 320 x 240, so they'll still be available at around 36 megs. But will massive files come along, just as they have in anime? Time will tell.
    I'd like to see that tried out, but I do have one warning. The files may come with glitches here and there: they could have segments when the images get blocky and either ruin the playback for a few seconds or crash the player you're using. I saw this demonstrated in downloads of a few episodes of Inu Yasha and Chobits.

  14. August 25, 2003 - DVDFile.com reports that the South Park Season 3 DVD boxed set will come out on December 16 this year. Paramount, distributor of the South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut DVD and VHS, will distribute it, and the future releases as well. Why Paramount? Because Viacom owns Paramount, and Viacom now owns all of Comedy Central. Now, the fans have been clamoring for a special edition of South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut for a few years now, one with footage of bloopers, alternate storylines, deleted scenes and such. And with Paramount taking over for Warner Home Video, maybe some commentaries, for the movie and the Season 3 DVDs, as well. Shall we lean on Paramount to do this for us fans?     I found out from tvguide.com that a series on VH1 called "VH1 Goes Inside" is going to do an episode all about South Park. From the tvguide description, the show is "A look at the animated series South Park features clips from the show and interviews with creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and writers, producers, and celebrities"
    Apperantly this "VH1 Goes Inside" thing is a brand new series. Its first episode aired on October 2 and it went inside primetime cartoons to take a look at all kinds of animated prime time shows, including The Ren and Stimpy Show, Beavis and Butt-Head,The Simpsons, The Ambiguously Gay Duo, The Powerpuff Girls, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, Sealab 2021, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and South Park[I found all that out at tvtome.com]. And this new one focusing on South Park for an hour airs this Friday the 17th at 12, 6, 9, and 11:30 PM, then it replays on Saturday the 18th at 11 AM and 4 and 11 PM.
    In any case, it appears we have a new TV special on South Park to look out for on Friday and Saturday on VH1; that should whet our appetites for the new season. And you can search the TV listings on tvguide.com to confirm this.
    M'kay, let's see... I suppose you need to be a member to get the cable listings. As I'm not, I just get the broadcast listings. But all you vid cappers, get your programs up and running, and let us know from where we can download it! :)

    Question from audience: What is a Director of Animation?
    Eric (Director of animation: Trey and Matt write a script and give it to our story board department, I go through the storyboards and fix staging, then it goes to layout with my notes. After that I do another pass of the boards putting directorial notes on them for the animators. All of the show is done on the computer, and we have a network set up so I can see shots anytime I want and approve them (sending them to our editors ) or Email the animator with a fix.
    Tod (Moderator): Whoa that sounds hella cool!
    Eric: Hella yeah it is.

    Question from audience: Who makes up all the jokes in the alphabet in the classroom and the posters around the school?
    Tod: Also, in a related question, do you ever sneak stuff in that Matt and Trey don't know about?
    Eric: Yes I always am trying to sneak things into the show. I'm the one who sneaks all the aliens in for the true fans.

    Question from audience: What was the hardest episode of South Park to create?
    Eric: Last years Halloween episode. It sent me to the hospital.
    Tod: To the hospital? How's that?
    Eric: It was really hectic, We finally got the library and characters the way we wanted them for our system. Then Trey decided he wanted everyone green. And he wanted all four boys in costumes, and he wanted it in 3 weeks for air. So I was sent to the hospital due to stress with my appendix about to break. It was removed and I was back at work after 3 days.
    Tod: Well they say an artist has to suffer, huh?
    Eric: It was the most fun I've ever had losing an appendix. Guess I won't be doing that again.

  8. October 27, 2003 - The general concensus is that last Wednesday's ep was pretty good, but it didn't knock our socks off. The Crab People appearing all of a sudden was rather distracting, but they did lend their own bit of humor to the ep. The reliance on aliens, monsters, or other weird creatures to move the story along is getting to some fans, and I see their point. Season 7 hasn't done as well as Season 6 - the eps don't stand out as much.
  9. October 30, 2003 - Anyone ever see "The Four Horsemen Of South Park" or know what it was about? Or know where to get a video of it? Also, check out the many projects Matt (Cartoon All Stars To The Rescue: STOP DIGIMON!??) and Trey (SpongeBob Squarepants: Squidward could lay off the crackers??) are said to be part of. Matt figures that must be it, but don't quote him on that.

  17. December 7, 2003 - Pearl Harbor. Remember. Did Wedmesday's episode leave you hanging? As if something needed to be added after the boys were told they were grounded? If so, Matt and Trey agree with you. Two lines were added to the end of the episode yesterday.
    Stan:Well, I guess we learned our lesson.
    Kyle:No we didn't, dude! No we didn't! [walks off]
    What does this mean? It means that - here's the lesson - they would have been grounded no matter what, and so they should have gone for being grounded in the first place. This means that every week they're bound to repeat the formula Kyle noticed, just as they had done for the past seven seasons, so we're bound to complain about it again in the future.
