"Team America: World Police'' In a year where politics dominated the news and popular culture, the most thought-provoking and conventional-wisdom-skewering film was acted out by marionettes. The duo crafted one of the funniest movies of the year, flaying the conventions of Jerry Bruckheimer- produced action films while satirizing the war on terror with equal ridicule for everyone. But amid the non-stop profanity, graphic violence and marionette sex was one of the more Bush- sympathetic movies to come out of Hollywood. January 21, 2005 - Further proof that the state of high school education in the United States is messed up: Ironwood Ridge High School has banned the presentation of Cannibal! The Musical, which is a defense of Alferd Packer laden with curse words and mangled body parts from acts of cannibalism, and replaced it with a presentation of The Crucible, a play about infidelity, violence and accusations of witchcraft. January 30, 2005 - Check it out: I just saw the South Park chess set over at South Park Alliance. It's a lovely piece of South Park merchandise to have, but... why is Kyle a Bishop? Kyle's not even Christian! LOL. February 5, 2005 - Aaand I'm back. Thanks to all those who inquired as to why my site was gone for a week or so. :) My domain had expired, so I had to renew it. This I did, and it will be good for the next five years. My computer is running at 640 megs memory (I had to clean the memory slots. Dusty...) and all is good. February 17, 2005 - Heh, saw this at Now Showing at Home for videos coming out next Tuesday. February 19, 2005 - South Park Studios reveals that the writers are now working out plotlines for Season 9 and that there will be 8 episodes in the spring run, so this coming season will be longer than Season 8: First ep airs in 18 days. March 7, 2005 - South Park Studios announced yesterday the synopsis for Wednesday's episode. One question: How did Mr. Garrison's balls end up ...there??? What's Kyle gonna do without kneecaps? Episode 901: Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina Mr. Garrison goes to great lengths to get what he's always wanted…a sex change. As he enjoys his new womanly attributes, the rest of the town gets in touch with their inner feelings too. Meanwhile, Kyle wrestles with the fact that Jews just aren't good at basketball. The boys have to help Mr. Garrison get his testicles out of Kyle's knees! March 12, 2005 - Has the show jumped the shark? From posts I've been reading, the answer seems to be yes. I know a few people who've lost interest in the show (and that goes back a year or two) and many others who were put off by last Wednesday's ep. Hopefully the show doesn't become decadent, or it's over. March 14, 2005 - New episode synopsis for Wednesday's ep. South Park Studios had one up last Friday, but it just reiterated the title. This one is from Comedy Central Press: Episode 902: Die Hippie, Die! Cartman warns the citizens of South Park that it will only be a matter of days before the town becomes the Hippie Capital of the World. No one will believe him until they find out the hippies plan to stage a weeklong music fest. The town has no choice but to turn to Cartman for help. He then puts his plan to eradicate his lifelong enemies in motion. March 15, 2005 - Brian Courtis considers South Park a tired show. March 17, 2005 - A review of Orgazmo, which comes to video in 12 days, quoted verbatim below from the Tucson Weekly. Orgazmo Paramount Movie: C+ Special Features: B+ DVD Geek Factor: 6 (out of 10) OK, the movie isn't very good, but it's sort of sick fun once you get over the horror of having to look at Ron Jeremy. This is one of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's first films (they'd already made the much-funnier and trashier Cannibal: The Musical), and this effort kicks the shit out of Baseketball. Parker plays a Mormon missionary who goes to Hollywood and quickly becomes the biggest porn star in the world, as well as a superhero. It's a little hard to take the first time around, but its junky charm grows on you after the second bottle of bourbon. Keep an eye out for some of your favorite porn stars! Special Features: The oh-so-good Parker-Stone tradition of drunken commentary is in full effect. Listen to Matt and Trey get inebriated as they view their trashy movie. Two versions of the film, one unrated and the other NC-17, are contained on one disc. The Book of Orgazmo goes behind the scenes with all sorts of nudity and farting. A great time if you are sick in the head. March 19, 2005 - Seen at Hot Topic: Cartman microbead pillows, $19.99. You Got Goth-Served T-Shirts, $19.00. 	March 20, 2005 - Comedy Central Press has been lagging, but they finally produced press release pics for the first two eps in the spring run: March 21, 2005 - Welcome to the first full day of Spring. :) This week's episode symposis, from Comedy Central Press: "SOUTH PARK" MEETS "THE CONTENDER" IN AN ALL-NEW EPISODE PREMIERING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23 AT 10:00 P.M.* ON COMEDY CENTRAL NEW YORK, March 21, 2005 -- The boys of "South Park" break into the talent business in an all-new episode, premiering Wednesday, March 23 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. As talent agents, Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny can bank 10% of their client Token's earnings. After they pool all their resources to impress their one and only client, another agency steals him away. April 3, 2005 - America's TV tyranny mentions South Park in an article about the puritanism being applied to television ever since Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction last year. Mme. April 4, 2005 - First, the guests are up for last Wendesday's ep. Included are three images concerning stuff people have noticed, like... Kenny's little sister, Satan's new look, and Hell's Pass Hospital's new look. Next, a sneak peek at this Wednesday's ep. THE KIDS OF SOUTH PARK BECOME THE LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM TO BEAT IN "THE LOSING EDGE." A winning season and overzealous parents threaten to ruin the entire summer, when the boys of South Park head to the State Championship The kids desperately want an end to the boring baseball season. The problem is they've won so many games that now they're in the playoffs. Just one loss would mean the season's finished and they'd be free from America's favorite pastime for the entire summer. The press release pics are late, again, but I'm later. :D April 5, 2005 - Here's the log of the South Park Studios' chat we had earlier this evening. I'll clean it up a bit later, with colored text, whatever. :) The relevant news in this chat is that there will be seven eps in the spring run, not eight. Over 1000 questions were submitted, only a few were chosen. Highlights There are no plans right now for a second South Park movie. They don't have any ideas that would do justice to the first one. As to why Chef has stopped singing: "It just became 'the thing we do' As soon as we hear that, we change." Vernon Chapman, the voice of Towelie, has his own show on MTV2 now called Wonder Showzen, so there won't be much of Towelie in the future. Kenny is not now or ever will be officially dead. When he appears again is up to Trey and Matt. Butters somehow came from "Little Buddy." There are no plans for a Special Edition of BLU. They have no deleted scenes, no docementary footage, and they really don't like to make commentaries. Orgazmo will not be visiting South Park. Mr. Slave is too funny to disappear from South Park. Matt and Trey are going to Toronto sometime this summer to promote the Team America DVD release in Canada. Hopefully they don't get their asses kicked for making Canadians with flapping heads. The visual style of the show will continue to change. He loves the fact that the show keeps developing and getting better visually. They're working really hard so the show stays fresh. There will be seven episodes for the spring run, not eight. April 9, 2005 - Names & Faces (Wahington Post) reveals that Matt and Trey, the cynical creators of "South Park," will be at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner as guests of the Denver Post on April 30. April 10, 2005 - Seen at Spencer Gifts yesterday: Cartman slippers. Each slipper has a plush Cartman built on it so you're looking at two of him as you walk in those cushy things. As you might guess, the left slipper has "Screw you guys," and the right one has "I''m going home" printed on the heel. I didn't see a price tag on those. April 11, 2005 - From South Park Studios: This Week on South Park: "The Death of Eric Cartman" Butters is freaked out when he thinks he can communicate with the dead. Poor Butters, lol. Ahhh, the official press release! BUTTERS SEES A GHOST NEW YORK, April 11, 2005 -- Butters is freaked out when he thinks he can communicate with the dead in an all-new episode of "South Park," entitled "The Death Of Eric Cartman." Although his parents have made it clear to him there are no such things as ghosts, Butters is sure one is haunting him. Butters knows he has to give up his ghost pal or be put into a mental institution. And last wwek's press release pic. You can see Kenny over Cartman's left shoulder. And this is the first time we see Craig's hair: You can see it looks like Stan's hair, only brown. April 18, 2005 - Jimmy gets a what??? Check out the episode synopsis below to find out. Here are some screen shots: This game harkens back to a time in South Park when Kenny died on a regular basis. May 28, 2005 - The Aristocrats will hit L.A. theaters on July 29, dunno about the rest of the country, so if you're in L.A., mark your calendars and look for Matt and Trey in the movie. And now, here's an interesting blurb from a Swedish message board about a Norwegian band called Enslaved appearing on the show ... sometime in the future. Enslaved in South Park The Black Metal band Enslaved from Bergen will show up in the American TV-cartoon South Park. At one point in time, a sure sign of success for a rock band was to appear on the front cover of the American music magazine Rolling Stone. Today South Park has taken over that role. Both Arve, Cato, Grutle Herbrand and Ivar have been made into cartoon characters. The reason the people behind the series has taken an interest to the band now can be blamed on the fact that their last album has been a big hit in USA. When the episode be shown is not known yet. Enslaved's official site makes no mention of Enslaved appearing on the show. Has their last album been that big here in the US? This is the first time I hear of this band. And the show isn't taking Rolling Stone's role as starmaker away, as far as I know. Still, Korn and Radiohead has appeared on the show, why not Enslaved? Turns out it's not true. :D "Hehe... It's just a joke. Cato Bekkevold used a South Park-generator on the internet, and created South Park-versions of the band members. Their record company sent the news with their newsletters, and after some days the news reached the big newspapers in Norway. And they all bought it.. Hehe..." May 29, 2005 - Movies for the PSP and other stuff to catch up on. On August 9, for example, Team America, among other movies, will be released for the PSP. Episodes of South Park will follow later in the year. Matt and Trey take part in a featurette on the Make Your Own Damn Movie DVD. June 3, 2005 - To the member of the Jedi Council Forums with the Cartman quote, this is what Cartman actually says: "Hippies. Hi-i-ippies. They're everywhere. They wanna save the earth, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad. He-elp!" Also, Matt and Trey were on the Edith and Colin radio chat show early today. I set my computer to record it while I slept. :) Here it is: Part 1 and Part 2. Right-click and save. Fun fact: Trey's family came from the town of Shrewsbury along the River Severn. This river provides Trey's middle name. Bonus: Charles Darwin was born there. :D June 10, 2005 - I've taken care of all the mail I've gotten since January 1 which I hadn't addressed before. 	Wednesday, June 15, 2005 - For a while, people were asking about Star Wars and Star Trek references in the show. I've compiled most of the references in these Star Wars and Star Trek pages. I'm sure I've missed quite a few and maybe added one or two that don't really belong. What do you think? Send me what I missed Friday, June 17, 2005 - Anyone watching WWE's Smackdown yesterday night may have noticed a commercial announcing South Park will begin airing syndicated episodes on UPN sometime during Fall. I've seen a print ad congratulating South Park for an Emmy nomination this year. Wednesday, July 6, 2005 - Looks like somebody decided to pick a fight with me over the terms in my South Park Lexicon. And there's no date anywhere by which to see the beginning of the site's existence, so I don't think it was around in 1999, the year in which the terms he criticizes me for appeared on the show. Strike 3. He's out! Anyway, let's move on to his criticisms. Hella cool - been around since the mid '90s? I think it's far older than that. And I mentioned "hella," not "hella cool." Did I say "hella" originated with South Park? No, I clearly said it came from "helluva," "hell of a." The Wiktionary confirms my statement: It is a written form of a reduction of "Hell of a." What's more, it's been around since 1980. Was South Park around in 1980? Nope. Hot Carl - He mentions that it's Hot Karl, and that it means taking a shit on someone during sex. The first half is true, the second half false. As Mr. Garrison so cleary said in "Proper Condom Use," a Hot Karl is performing anal sex on your partner, and then they turn around right afterwards and give you a blowjob. The main term for this is "Ass to Mouth." If I had meant Hot Karl and not Hot Carl, I would have put that in the Lexicon instead. Hot Carl appears there because he was in the credits for one of the episodes, and so might have meant a hot man. It's for his appearance in the credits that he will stay in the Lexicon. COMEDY CENTRAL® AND "SOUTH PARK" CREATORS RENEW FOR THREE MORE YEARS Deal Includes 42 New Episodes Of "South Park" NEW YORK, September 8, 2005 -- COMEDY CENTRAL and "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have renewed their contract in a deal that will keep the creative duo at the cable channel through the end of 2008, it was announced today by Doug Herzog, president, COMEDY CENTRAL. The deal consists of three more years of "South Park" episodes with 14 new episodes each year. Parker and Stone will continue under the new agreement to write, direct and edit every episode of "South Park" as they have since the creation of the show. New episodes of "South Park" will begin on October 19 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. "I was at COMEDY CENTRAL when we launched the first season of 'South Park' and I am thrilled to see them continue through 2008," says Herzog. "Matt and Trey are creative geniuses and a huge part of the COMEDY CENTRAL family and we look forward to continued success." The deal with COMEDY CENTRAL for Parker and Stone was negotiated by their attorney Kevin Morris of Barnes, Morris, Klein, Mark, Yorn, Barnes & Levine. They are also represented by William Morris. September 12, 2005 - South Park has submitted a nomination once every other year since the show began in 1997 - in seasons 1,3,5,7, and now 9, and this year, it finally won the Emmy for its nomination. The honors were given out yesterday by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS). The program, an adult-oriented animation phenomenon, is set in the town of South Park, nestled in the Colorado Rockies and home to grade-schoolers Kyle, Stan, Kenny and Cartman. It won the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program (less than an hour). This year's Emmy Awards are being presented during two ceremonies. The first, primarily for creative arts categories, took place on Sunday, September 11, while the balance of the Emmys, primarily for the performing arts and including four nominations for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," will be announced before a black-tie audience during a primetime telecast (CBS) on Sunday, September 18. 	September 24, 2005 - Welcome to Fall 2005. South Park's Matt Stone and Trey Parker will appear on Charlie Rose this Monday evening. Check your local PBS stations for showtimes. Here in L.A. the show will be on at 11:30 p.m. on KCET 28. In South Florida it'll be on at 11 p.m. on WGCU 30. If you're keeping track of the changes syndication brings to the show, send in the censorship you've seen so far or post them on the board. The first week is over, and many of you have seen 10 episodes come and go. September 27, 2005 - Well, the Charlie Rose interview didn't reveal anything we longtime fans didn't already know, but Trey did reveal that Michael Moore's body in Team America was made of ham. That was in response to Moore's placement of a South Park-style cartoon, "A Brief History of America," after Matt Stone's segment in Bowling for Columbine that led people to believe Matt and Trey made the cartoon. The cartoon itself reminded Trey of his own work, "American History," in college, which just invited more comparison between the two shorts. Boobie_Tassels, who has her Trey site, [Shpadoinkle] Trey Parker, provided a video of the interview up to the point where Team America was being discussed. But the picture below is the real news! This picture was placed in CrapTV's forums by boobie_tassels. It's from Jimmy Fallon's Birthday Party at The National Arts Club in NYC on Sept. 24. Trey is pictured here with his fiancée, Emma Sugiyama. On her left ring finger she's sporting a ring (look at the inset at lower left for detail), and women don't wear rings there unless it's from a significant other. :) Boobie_tassels also received an e-mail from someone who attended the event, which read "Trey was talking about anime and how the japanese are, then said 'my fiancée, who is Japanese, is here in the audience today." Boobie's source also told her a month ago that Trey got engaged to Emma this summer in Italy. They are planning to get married early next year, possibly in Hawaii. Trey studied Japanese in college and has been to Japan numerous times since college. His movies and South Park sometimes have Japanese in them, and there's the Chinpokomon episode in the third season, so it makes sense that he'd find a Japanese mate to marry. :) Congrats to them. Last Spring, Matt said eight episodes will follow, but the press release now says seven eps. We'll see who's right. October 16, 2005 - Welcome to the second half of Season 9! South Park Studios has put up the following info about this coming Wednesday's episode: "Two Days before the Day After Tomorrow" A GLOBAL WARMING STATE OF EMERGENCY is declared in South Park. Global Warming is determined to be the cause of the massive flood that destroys a neighboring town. The world’s largest beaver dam breaks and the waters overtake the adjacent town of Beaverton.. As the victims wait for help to arrive, everyone in South Park tackles priority number one: who is to blame? The President, the mayor, scientists, the press and even the flood victims themselves are all busy pointing fingers. Only Stan and Cartman know who’s really at fault. Now, they did a global warming episode once before, called "Spontaneous Combustion," in which people were exploding for no apparent reason and burning up. Randy Marsh concluded that it was people were holding in thei farts, so he encouraged everyone to fart every time they felt the urge to, and pretty soon the town got smelly and too warm to bear. The more you know... :) Halloween, 2005 - Mrs. Garrison is doing some strange stuff involving Big Gay Al and Mr. Slave. This week's synopsis, thanks to South Park Studios Episode 910 - Follow That Egg! Mrs. Garrison's "ex" plans to marry his new love as soon as the Governor signs the bill allowing gay marriage in Colorado. As Slave and Big Gay Al prepare to marry, the townspeople of South Park rally the Governor to outlaw gay marriage. In a fit of jealously, Mrs. Garrison develops his own case study using the kids to prove that same sex couples cannot care for a child. The boys are determined to get an "A" on their class assignment and Mrs. Garrison is just as committed to seeing they fail. All Saints' Day, 2005 - Día de los Muertos in Mexico. Tomorrow is All Souls' Day. All Saints here means all believing Christians (Catholics, in my case), not just the saints canonized by the Pope. South Park Studios announces that Matt Stone will return for another online interview in two weeks (Nov. 15), so we have that to look forward to. :) November 3, 2005 - Last night's episode was so so, with a few laughs here and there. Once in a while I find what I think is a profound statement, and today I decided to bring you this one from Cannibal Lover: I keep noticing how funny it is now to see the kids back in the classroom, sitting at their desks doing school projects, after all of the absurd things they've done and places they've been to in the past nine years. Episode 912 - Trapped in the Closet Religious leaders believe Stan is the new “Golden Child” and a whole soap opera unfolds with the help of a famous R&B singer. The results of Stan’s personality test reveal that he’s depressed. While Stan looks to a new religion for answers, the church leaders recognize Stan as the second coming. Some A-List Hollywood celebrities join the faithful who have set up camp right in front of Stan’s house. November 16, 2005 - Thanks to Nall for e-mailing me the log of the chat yesterday night. There weren't as many questions this time around, and I don't know how long this chat lasterd. The one in April lasted an 90 minutes and we got 60 questions out of it. November 18, 2005 - Two months ago Matt and Trey signed a three year contract with Comedy Central to make more seasons of South Park. Today they signed a contract with Paramount to create and/or produce some movies for it, and have formed a company to handle it all. The writing and directing duo have named their new company Trunity and are wasting little time appointing a core creative team and business staff. Read all about it! Gee, it's been a few years since the original arrived, hasn't it? Episode 913 - Free Willzyx Kyle convinces the fourth-grade boys to help him get his special new friend back home. A "talking" whale inspires the fourth-graders to risk everything to return him to his family. With the police on their tails, the boys enlist the help of a foreign government and embark upon an adventure they'll not soon forget; one in which the boys learn just how far to go for a friend. December 3, 2005 - Good episode last Wednesday. I like seeing the boys be regular boys, and Willzy-x being launched onto the moon. The program is 90 minutes long and begins at 9, 8 Central, and the South Park segment is listed at the end, so you may have to wait until 10, 9 Central, to catch the clip. December 5, 2005 - Nice CBS clip yesterday, but the interviewer could've used some DayQuil herself, lol. Who'da thought that Randy's an alcoholic? Episode 914 - Bloody Mary Stan is embarrassed in front of his friends when his dad is arrested for drunk driving. In a neighboring town, a bleeding statue of Mary is discovered and the faithful are flocking to the site hoping to be healed. Stan's dad is sure the bleeding Virgin can cure him of his "disease." A bleeding or crying statue seems to happen a lot in Catholic circles, and many of the claims have been debunked, but the Church discourages its members from venerating such statues - they do distract from Jesus' message. December 7, 2005 - "Bloody Mary" airs tonight, and after that, hiatus until February. First new episode of Season 10 airs on March 22. December 9, 2005 - Pearl Harbor Day was December 7, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception was December 8, and it was interesting to see both of them referenced in this ep. Catholics may be offended at the way bleeding statues were lampooned in this ep, but bleeding statues don't figure all that much into the Catholic view of salvation.
