  1. December 21, 2005 - First Day of Winter, y'all!!! Happy Holidays to one and all! Now, take a look at some Timmy pics from Fark's thread, "What animated characters would look like if they were real people"

  2. December 22, 2005 - Ten years ago Matt and Trey made the second version of "The Spirit of Christmas" (SOXMAS for short). That version had Jesus coming down from heaven looking for Santa, who was at the mall. The boys took Jesus to Santa, and they had a few words before fighting each other for the rights to Christmas. This year there seems to be a battle against Christmas - specifically, against the commercialism Santa has come to represent - and that is covered in this report. Just as in the short, the report asks for peace to have a chance in resolving this battle.
  3. January 2, 2006 - Looks like the Catholic League got its wish - "Bloody Mary" will not air again, so you'll have to wait for the DVD if you want to see it again, or download it from Mr. Twig or from the torrents in TVEps.
  4. January 10, 2006 - From Boing Boing, an autoresponse to people asking about the removal of "Bloody Mary" from the "South Park New Year's Rock-a-thon":

    Dear Viewer:

    Thank you for your letter regarding the "South Park" episode entitled "Bloody Mary." We appreciate your concerns about the potential influences of outside special interest groups on the media and enterainment industries and particularly Comedy Central. Though Comedy Central did not include the "Bloody Mary" episode in a special year-end marathon of "South Park" episodes in deference to the Holidays, "Bloody Mary" did in fact air in every one of "South Park's" normally scheduled repeat timeslots.
    As satirists, we believe that it is our First Amendment right to poke fun at any and all people, groups, organizations and religions and we will continue to defend that right. Our goal is to make people laugh, and perhaps if we're lucky, even make them think in the process.
    Despite misleading claims from those who would like to claim victory, we have not permantly shelved the "Bloody Mary" episode from future airings due to outside pressure nor will we exclude it from future DVD releases.

    M'kay. Um, South Park Season 9.5 Rewind Tonight!, consisting of the seven fall eps, aired that night, and "Bloody Mary" was replaced by "Conjoined Fetus Lady," which wasn't part of Season 9 at all. Why not just replace "Bloody Mary" with a spring ep? Oh well. Anyway, it's good to know that "Bloody Mary" WILL be back on the air sometime, and of course, that it WILL be on DVD when season 9 comes out next year.

January 13, 2006 - TV Shows On DVD has cover art for the front and back covers of Season 7's slip case and the back cover of the digipack - the back cover of the digipack will have the boys on it, while the front cover of the slipcase will have a hole in it so the boys appear through the hole when the digipack is in the slipcase. :) South Park has been around long enough to be discussed in college lectures. And South Park Studios is going to use Atempo to protect its data (backup and restore). And now, Top five God versus the Devil films (By Ben Davey and Joanna Cohen, The Sidney Morning Herald, Australia).
    4. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut

    Synopsis: A crude animated film becomes the impetus for a war between the United States and Canada. Jesus, Satan and Saddam have a hand in matters and one of South park's favourite sons stumbles upon a giant sized replica of a clitoris. Noice.
    BD: It is easy to assume that fans of the show would take to this like a league player to a strip joint. Sure you'll champ at the bit to watch the movie length version of a show you dig but I think those who are new to South Park that'll get more from it. As funny as some of the sequences are, it's hard not to become numb from subversion (I mean fart jokes) mid-way through.
    JC: This is cinema with Tourette Syndrome. Don't watch it if you are easily offended. In fact, don't watch it if something almost offended you once. This movie rolls in its own vulgarity like a pig in shit. It is a raucous satire about the hypocrisy of conservative horror of foul language that has spawned pages of warnings about the dangers of foul language. I find Terrance and Phillip, the animation within the animation, boring as all fuck but the dysfunctional relationship between Satan and Saddam had me in stitches.
  6. January 18, 2006 - Trey will be a married man in six days, as he tells CrapTV forum member Kristyne, who saw him during a performance of Cannibal! The Musical she's starring in currently in Seattle.

  8. January 28, 2006 - Congratulations to Trey Parker and Emma Sugiyama on their wedding on January 25... or 24. One of those days. :) May they have many non-ginger kids together. February 7, 2006 - Midwinter, highlighted by Groundhog Day and the Super Bowl, has come and gone, Ash Wednesday arrives in three weeks, and I'm bored, so I decided to present the list of writers from the beginning of the show to the end of last year.   11. March 4, 2006 - South Park Studios is reporting that That's My Bush is coming to DVD this fall, and that the cast will be at the Studios next week to lay down the commentary for the short-lived series. The episodes are available here until the DVD comes out, so get them while you can.
  12. March 6, 2006 - Yesterday, Time Magazine put up a short interview with Matt and Trey online (link to original article within). Highlights include: Matt and Trey think the show is way better (and a lot dirtier) now than it was when it began nine years ago, Dubya is like Homer Simpson, and that people are born bad to be made good by society.
  13. March 15, 2006 - Nine days to go until Season 10 begins, but next weekend Comedy Central will present... The South Park Games!

The voice in the clip over at South Park Studios and in the commercial seems to be Isaac Hayes, but that voice could be different come Wednesday night.

    The town is jolted out of a case of the doldrums when Chef suddenly reappears. While Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman are thrilled to have their old friend back, they notice that something about chef seems different. When Chef's strange behavior starts getting him in trouble, the boys pull out all the stops to save him.
  2. March 22, 2006: Happy Birthday Kenny - Isaac Hayes will voice Chef tonight, but the voice clips will be from episodes past, not anything new. And now I present the transcript for the March 15 appearance of Matt and Trey on The Late Show with David Letterman!
  3. March 27, 2006 - Episode 1002, "Smug Alert!" - Stan persuades all the citizens of South Park to buy hybrid cars. This is all the info on the episode so far at South Park Studios.     Episode 1002: Smug Alert!

    A disaster of epic proportions threatens the town and Stan is to blame in an all-new episode of “South Park” titled "Smug Alert!" premiering Wednesday, March 29 at 10:00 p.m. on Comedy Central.
    Stan is the driving force who gets the citizens of South Park to buy hybrid cars. Just as everyone starts to feel really good about what they’re doing to help save the earth, scientists discover a stormy, dark mass accumulating over the town.

  6. April 5, 2006 - If you're wondering why I'm mentioning the episode just now, it's because there are NO press release pics for it and just the one plotline. Last week's press release pics came out two or three days AFTER the episode aired, and that's no good to me.

    Episode 1003: Cartoon Wars: Part I

    WHY DOES CARTMAN HATE "FAMILY GUY" SO MUCH?
    Kyle loves "Family Guy" and hates Cartman. The two boys embark upon a mad chase across the country and the fate of "Family Guy" lies with the first boy to reach Hollywood.
    The Denver Post is reporting that Matt and Trey will receive a Peabody Award in June:
    Coloradans Trey Parker and Matt Stone were recognized for their animated "South Park" series, which the judges said, "pushes all the buttons, turns up the heat and shatters every taboo." The winners will be honored at ceremonies June 5 in New York City with Jon Stewart as host.

    After a 10-year track record of pushing TV boundaries and famously tangling with Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," the Catholic Church, Cruise and Scientology and many others, "South Park" won an Emmy for its Terri Schiavo-themed episode. And after eight or nine self-submitted entries during the past decade, "South Park" will get its Peabody on June 5 in New York from "The Daily Show" host (and Peabody winner) Jon Stewart.
    The Schiavo episode helped seal the award for "South Park" with the Peabody judges.
    "The judges felt that it was a bold program that probably offends just about everybody at some point and in doing so reminds us that we need to be tolerant," awards director Horace Newcomb said. "It's also consistent in its insistence on non-censorship." Newcomb said the decision was unanimous.
    While Newcomb was sure the Peabodys would be criticised for honouring "South Park," he said that it didn't deter the judges from honouring the best in electronic media, just like when it honoured such shows as "All in the Family" and "The Simpsons."
    "We're very proud of that, and we'll stand behind those decisions," he said.

  8. April 13, 2006 - Well, Comedy Central pussed out... or did it? The text in the censored scene isn't written the way an official statement would be. It is written in a way that has FOX saying Comedy Central won't depict Mohammed in its airing of the Family Guy episode.

    Remember, this is supposed to be FOX airing Family Guy, and Comedy Central is one of the networks airing it for them. Anyone familiar with the syndicated episodes should recognize this particular parody. Know also that Comedy Central has NEVER censored the show - Matt and Trey have always done the censoring themselves - but Comedy Central HAS declined to air a few eps more than once. Networks outside the country can do what they want, as Canada has shown in airing "Trapped In The Closet" more than once. Also note that you can see Mohammed in the crowd in SP's opening credits, but the FG version doesn't appear in the ep..

    I'm not sure if it's been reported yet, but for what it's worth, I just got off the phone with a Comedy Central spokesman. I asked him about last night's episode of South Park in which, at a moment right before the prophet Mohammed was supposed to make a cameo, the words, "Comedy Central has refused to broadcast an image of Mohammed on their network" appeared on the screen.
    I asked him whether this truly was Comedy Central's decision or whether this was just another gag (with South Park, you never know). He said:

    They reflected it accurately. That was a Comedy Central decision.

    Just in case there was any confusion, that settles it. Comedy Central censored the image.

    NEW YORK -- Banned by Comedy Central from showing an image of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, the creators of "South Park" skewered their own network for hypocrisy in the cartoon's most recent episode.
    The comedy - in an episode aired during Holy Week for Christians - instead featured an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.
    In an elaborately constructed two-part episode of their Peabody Award-winning cartoon, "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker intended to comment on the controversy created by a Danish newspaper's publishing of caricatures of Muhammad. Muslims consider any physical representation of their prophet to be blasphemous.
    When the cartoons were reprinted in newspapers worldwide in January and February, it sparked a wave of protests primarily in Islamic countries.
    Parker and Stone were angered when told by Comedy Central several weeks ago that they could not run an image of Muhammad, according to a person close to the show who didn't want to be identified because of the issue's sensitivity.
    The network's decision was made over concerns for public safety, the person said.
    Comedy Central said in a statement issued Thursday: "In light of recent world events, we feel we made the right decision." Its executives would not comment further.
    Matt and Trey were told not to include Muhammad in the eps after all... How long has Comedy Central forbidden images of Muhammad from being displayed? And will the show be able to make it to the end of the year at this rate?
  9. April 14, 2006 - The Volokh Conspiracy has an interview with Anne Garefino which sheds some more light on Comedy Central's censorship of the image of Muhammad.

    1. In an interview Thursday evening, South Park Executive Producer Anne Garefino revealed to me that the show was faced with two options: deliver the episode as written and animated with Mohammed shown and then allow Comedy Central to censor it, or edit out the disputed scene and write their own language explaining why Mohammed was not being shown and whose decision it was. “We wanted everyone to understand how strongly we felt about this,” said Garefino. Although the decision to omit Mohammed was not theirs, they wanted the language of the censorship disclosure to be their own.
    2. Garefino ... made clear that the reason for Comedy Central’s decision was “fear”: “We were happy that they didn’t try to claim that it was because of religious tolerance.” Comedy Central's official reason is "public safety," but that's just a phrase for "fear."
    3. When asked whether Comedy Central was responding to any specific threats of violence if it showed Mohammed, Garefino replied, “Not that I know of.”
    4. Garefino also confirmed that a short video circulating on the internet, which purports to be the excised South Park scene with Mohammed, is a forgery Cool. :) There's no doubt now, though she revealed that a scene with Mohammed was animated and does exist. Garefino reported that she still hopes that the original, uncensored episode of South Park will be shown in the near future.
    Well, looks like religion has caught up to South Park and squelched it. Last fall Matt and Trey went after Scientology in "Trapped In The Closet" after which Tom Cruise threatened to sue Comedy Central if it aired the episode again (it was scheduled to air again the week before "The Return of Chef!" but was switched out in favor of two Chef-centric eps), and then after excess reverence in "Bloody Mary" after which The Catholic League got a faithful Catholic Viacom executive to stop Comedy Central from airing it again (despite Comedy Central's protestations that it will air it again and that the Catholic League can't stop them, "Bloody Mary" has NOT aired again since its initial run last December.). A few weeks ago, Comedy Central told Matt and Trey that they couldn't show Muhammad again in light of radical Muslim riots aruond the world over the Danish cartoons depicting Muhammad, and correspondent Rob Corddry said as much on the Daily Show segment "This Week In God: Blasphemy!" (see that here), so it seems Comedy Central made this a general ban. But if you make depictions of Muhammad and a bleeding Mary statue forbidden, then other images will fall under the ban as well, like Jesus (well, Matt and Trey have Jesus participating in a poopfest at the end of Wednesday's ep, but...), and religion will become taboo. Matt and Trey can eventually no longer go after any religion, and that chips away at freedom of expression. As it stands, Matt and Trey had time to plan that censored clip (telegraphed by the question at the end of Part I, "Will Comedy Central puss out?"), given that they were told not to depict Muhammad several weeks beforehand.
  10. April 15, 2006 - I've removed the "uncensored" Muhammad clip because it's a fake. Matt and Trey do have the same scene censored and uncensored, but the censored one is the one more likely to make it to DVD.

    Episode 1005: A Million Little Fibers

    Towelie gets over his drug addiction and writes a moving book about his experiences. Thanks to Oprah's support, the book becomes a best seller and his story inspires millions to turn their lives around. However, when he's caught in a lie by the grand dame of daytime television, Towelie's old habits start to look mighty appealing.
  12. April 17, 2006 - An interesting read, from a post at the South Park Studios BBS...
    Here's how to boost ratings when your cartoon is getting lame:
    1. Start Controversy.
    2. Make yourselves out to be heroes (Matt & Trey: Defenders of Free Speech)
    3. Have an enemy: The Censors--Terrorists, Comedy Central, Tom Cruise, etc.
    4. Know beforehand that Comedy Central won't air controversial episode. This is good because Matt & Trey can be about Free Speech, but still be safe from the "terrorists." Perfect!
    5. Get naive little kids who watch show all riled up about censorship, despite the fact that they could have cared less before this show aired.
    6. Sit back in jacuzzi and be heroes. Collect big checks.
    7. Pretend to care about issues by making cartoons. Don't actually do anything to make a difference though; like, attend congressional hearing, write to politicians, protest (that's all for hippies and they suck).
    8. Launch personal attacks against anyone you don't like. Cartoons are powerful weapons! Trash Barbara Streisand for making liberal statements during presidential campaigns, Make puppet movie because Michael Moore implied SP is anti-guns. Hate on ANYONE who doesn't share your own warped opinions.
    9. Criticize rich, liberal celebrities and say they know nothing about politics. Instead, be a rich, conservative celebrity who doesn't know anything about politics.
    10. Be hypocrites and pussies, but accuse everyone else of being hyprocrites and pussies.
    11. Playfully poke fun at yourselves on episodes, but do it in a way that still makes you look like good guys: We know we like toilet humor and offend people (but for their own good). Don't be too truthful and say we're two punk-ass bitches who feel inferior, which is why we sh*t all over everyone else.
    12. Feel superior to EVERYONE.
    13. Start to panic when new Family Guy epsiodes air on April 30 and their ratings go through the roof, because everyone is waiting to see FG take these 2 douche bags off their pedestal and rip them a new assh*le.
    14. Fade into obscurity when people get tired of self-important preaching cartoon.
  13. April 24, 2006 - In two and a half days, we get Manbearpig.

    Episode 1006: Manbearpig

    The boys' lives are in danger when they're trapped in the Cave of the Winds. While searching for a way out of the cave, Cartman discovers treasure. After the cave-in, all the exits are blocked off and Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman are all alone. Only one person knows they’re trapped under all the debris and he’s not telling. Cartman‘s only thought is how to get the treasure out without sharing it with the rest of the boys.
  14. April 25, 2006 - Here's another heads-up from Kitten: The Reason Foundation will be in Amsterdam on August 23-26, 2006 at the Grand Amsterdam Hotel, so if you're vacationing there at that time, check it out! Matt and Trey are scheduled to be there!
  15. April 29, 2006 - A month ago, Kurt Dziesinski semt me a link to his home page, A Snow Sculpures Story. On it is a pic of "South Park on the North-side," the scupture he made of the SP boys last winter (see South Park In the News. February 23).

    When Cartman's mom realizes she can't control her son anymore, she gets help from an expert. The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan, takes on his biggest challenge to date when he signs on to discipline Eric Cartman. Cesar may have what it takes but Eric Cartman's not going down without a fight.

    Tom Cruise has failed in a long-running bid to prevent his least favourite episode of South Park being screened on these shores.
    On Monday, a controversial episode of the satirical cartoon, "Trapped In the Closet", was shown at the National Film Theatre in London.
    The show, which mocks Scientology, had been pulled by Channel 4 in January amid complaints over a scene in which a cartoon version of Tom Cruise is locked in a closet.
    However, at this week's screening, which accompanied a talk by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, guests were given free DVDs of the verboten episode.
    Trumpeting this as a victory for free speech, the organisers say: "If we were charging, there may have been legal problems, but it was a free event, so it should be fine."
    Anyone have any info on the talk Matt and Trey did there? And didn't South Park move to Paramount Comedy over a year ago?
  18. May 17, 2006 - The release date for South Park: Season 8 is August 29, just before Labor Day. The second half of season 10 will still resume in October.
  19. May 18, 2006 - Looke like Kitten is the unofficial European correspondent for SP fan sites. :) She found another news item featuring Matt and Trey, and it looks like they're touring this summer. First, a Reason seminar, and now an appearance at the Edinburgh International TV Festival.

    South Park duo join TV festival

    The creators of South Park are among the stars headlining at this year's Edinburgh International TV festival.
    Matt Stone and Trey Parker will deliver a masterclass on their cult sitcom at the event which takes place during the last weekend of August.
    ITV's chief executive Charles Allen is to deliver this year's prestigious MacTaggart Lecture.
    Other guests include former US vice president Al Gore, Sir David Attenborough and Rageh Omaar.
    Mr Gore will talk about his network, Current TV, during the Alternative MacTaggart Lecture, which was launched in 1997 to give an insight into the future of broadcasting.
    Sir David will discuss new BBC documentary Planet Earth and a preview of the series will also be shown.
    Armando Iannucci, the man behind shows including The Thick Of It and I'm Alan Partridge, will also give a masterclass.
    Former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie and Respect party MP George Galloway will take part in a debate which will ask whether it is easier for those with right-of-centre opinions to get airtime on TV.
    "This is a great line-up. I am sure they will make waves - and make news," said the festival's advisory chairperson, Alison Sharman.
    The three-day festival, which begins on Friday 25 August, is open only to those who work in broadcasting.
    Time to update the South Park Calendar
    A masterclass is a class in which a master (probably Trey, in this case) takes one student at a time and critiques the student's work in front of the class and any spectators who are allowed to be in the room, so anyone who has some (semi-)professional artwork inspired by South Park might want to be there.
  20. June 8, 2006 - South Park will return for the fall run on October 4 this year. Tinadoll, CrapTV forum member, found these pics of Matt and Trey at the Peabody Awards ceremony on another site and shared them with other forum members. Trey lacks fashion sense.

  21. June 17, 2006 - Daze2000 over at the South Park Studios BBS reports that Comedy Central put "Trapped in the Closet" on its summer schedule for July 5, but replaced it the next day with "Cartoon Wars, Part I." Wusses! Sgt. Hartman would NOT be pleased.

Summer 2006

  1. June 22, 2006 - Two years ago (May 12, 2004) I mentioned that Matt and Trey were going to work on a religious musical with Avenue Q comedic composers Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez. Back then, they wouldn't name the religion, but it was a safe bet to say Mormonism. Yesterday, there came proof that Mormonism is indeed the religion the musical will address. South Park duo taking Mormons to Broadway (from Stuff Magazine, among a flurry of other sources) mentions the religion by name. Other things to note are that Lopez isn't involved now, that only four songs have been made so far (though they have loads more ideas), and that the musical doesn't have a name yet. Another bit of news, from Comedy Central Press: the press release pictures from the episodes have been replaced by pictures of the characters. :( And now, one last look at Isaac Hayes leaving South Park.
  2. June 26, 2006 - South Park References In Other Shows And Movies has been updated with Drawn Together's admiration. In February, Drawn Together aired "A Tale of Two Cows" (one was a live cow, the other... you can guess.). In the ep, the group visits several other cartoons in pursuit of the cow, which is destroying the cartoons beforehand. One of the cartoons they visit is South Park, which of course is destroyed. Spanky likes South Park, as he declares that more people would watch Drawn Together if the group lived in South Park.
  3. July 2, 2006 - Let's see if Comedy Central's balls have grown any bigger: "Trapped in the Closet" is scheduled to air on July 19 now.

  7. July 20, 2006 - Comedy Central has a new press release about South Park that covers the fall season pretty well. Read - HOLY SHIT(162) - SOUTH PARK TURNS 10!. Highlights:

    1. Travel Sweepstakes - Comedy Central is flying ten lucky fans to one of Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny's favorite global destinations for ten days.     3. Mobile phone stuff - This fall, a new wireless game featuring the "South Park" characters will be available on mobile phones, as well as new ringtones, ringbacks and wallpaper. Fans also can download excerpts of scenes from their favorite episodes.
    4. Licensed merchandise - CC will introduce all new licensed merchandise and apparel. New collectible figures from Mezco will include the following characters: Kyle, Stan, Mr. Garrison, Mr. Hanky, Tooth Fairy, Cartman and Token. In addition, all new Halloween costumes and holiday ornaments will be offered later this year. Fans of the series will also find collectible plush toys from Toy Island.
    Now that "Trapped In The Closet" has returned to the air, the other banned episode from last season will return, in two weeks.

  8. August 4, 2006 - Three days ago, Daily Variety printed the ad below, which congratulates Matt and Trey on their Emmy nomination for "Trapped In The Closet." As it turns out, Mel Gibson was driving drunk and was arrested for it. During the arrest he spewed a lot of anti-Semitic statements which he's had to apologize for since. Some people think the ad was made to make fun of Gibson, but that's not the case. The ad was made a few weeks before this happened.

    If you don't get the ad, here's the background for it. For years it's been said that the Jews run Hollywood (a lot of stars and Hollywood executives are and were indeed Jewish), but for a few decades now, the Scientologists have been buying up Hollywood properties and converting a lot of Hollywood stars to their, um, religion. The ad challenges the Jews to take Hollywood back from the Scientologists.
  9. August 6, 2006 - Words of the day: North Park, Middle Park, and South Park. These are the three valleys, or parks, that have been mentioned as towns on South Park. North Park is in Jackson County, Middle Park is in Grand County, and South Park is in Park County. Fairplay is the county seat of Park County, and it has an outdoor museum called South Park. Two items for you today: Cannibal!'s 10 year anniversay 2-DVD set with a new Colorado Commentary from crew members Ian Keldin, Alex Keldin, Jon Hegel, Toddy Walters, Robert Muratore, and Elki Neiberger; and South Park: The Hits, Volume I, which will be quoted in full below.     "Towelie" — Parker: "We rented a houseboat on Lake Mead with a bunch of our friends who are also writers on 'South Park' and we were getting into a boat, and everyone was like, 'Yeah, did you bring a towel? Everyone bring a towel? You – you got a towel?' And then people just started going, 'Don't forget to bring a towel.' And that, for some reason that caught on and then it became, 'Towelie says, don't forget to bring a towel.' And then that became 'Towelie.'"
    "Trapped in the Closet" — Parker: "We're pretty sure it's going be one of our most infamous ever, I think, just because of all the hubbub it caused. I don't think we've ever had a single episode that has stirred up this much unwanted and wanted attention."

  14. August 27, 2006 - Here's what Matt and Trey have been up to in Edinburgh, Scotland. :) Someone uploaded the intro to the Emmys two days ago on YouTube, so here's part I, which includes the South Park segment in which Conan shows up at Stan's house. And here's the dialog for that segment:

  15. September 18, 2006 - South Park refugees discusses how some South Park Republicans have defected in response to the increasing ties of the Bush Administration to the Religious Right. Cruise at "South Park" Party? That'll kill Kenny! covers the 10th anniversary party the show will have this Thursday. Following that report is "South Park 10" starting tonight - Matt and Trey's 10 favorites leading up to the release of the video on October 3 and the second half of Season 10 on October 4.

    Ever wanted to go to South Park? Leave your cares behind? Of course you have.
    Guests at next week's "South Park" 10th Season Anniversary Bash will certainly feel like they've entered the animated universe of those eternally potty-mouthed prepubscents, Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny.
    The party, which takes place Sept 21 at The Lot in Hollywood, will have a long white carpet. And the equally long photo back drop– called a “step and repeat” - along the simulated snow-stroll will feature 6-ft high images of past celebrity guest cartoons such as Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Lopez, George Lucas, P Diddy and yes, probably even Tom Cruise, still trapped in the closet.
    “It literally feels like you’re walking into South Park,” marveled a Comedy Central rep, who vowed to steal the backdrop for her office after the party.
    Live guests will include Drew Carey, Laura Silverman, The Roots, Seth Green, Primus, Paul Rudd, David Spade, Amanda Peet, Bob Saget, Paul Reubens, John Hensley, Tom Lennon and Damon Wayans.
    And of course, the men of the hour will be SP’s wickedly clever co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Oh, their new favorite musical group, Live Six, will be performing.
    No word on whether George Clooney (aka Sparky the Gay Dog) will attend. He’s reportedly reeeeally busy filming “Ocean’s Thirteen” but he has been known to make surprise appearances.
    Fingers tightly crossed for George's attendance (Stan Rosenfield, are you reading this?) but I’m on my knees praying that Courtney Love and/or Andy Dick will show up. Love was so trashed at last year’s Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson that she lifted up her top and bared her flaccid white belly to the horrified audience.
    Oh, before I forget, the new season - in case you want to set your Tivo - starts Oct 4. I hope to have more tidbits about upcoming plots and guest stars after next week's party. Don't tell anyone but I'm bringing an eight ball and a bottle of vodka for Matt and Trey.

Says Trey: "We really were starting to go, 'OK, wow, if this is the new sort of world we're living in, that's not a world for South Park to live in,' because we don't want to start making the choices of what's OK and what's not OK. Because we always get asked that question: What won't you make fun of? What's not OK to make fun of? What I think we've stood behind, for 10 years, is: It's got to all be OK or none of it is. Because as soon as you start picking, 'Well, OK, we won't do this,' then all of a sudden the ones you did about that shouldn't be OK either. So we were starting to say, 'I don't know that this is a world that South Park can live in.' And at the same time, just like we always did, we managed to get something on and say something about how we can't say something about Mohammed. "

    1. No taboos. While it may have all started with talking poo, it has gone on to tackle the touchiest subjects, from stem-cell research ["Kenny Dies"] to the Terri Schiavo case ["Best Friends Forever"] to Scientology ["Trapped in the Closet"]. "We never sit down and go, 'Who can we take on this week?'" Parker says. "Our job is to say, 'Here's this thing. What do you think about that?'"
    2. The animation rocks. Still reveling in its brilliant crudeness, the show's visual signature is unique in this Pixar-ish world. (And seriously, check out the depth of the backgrounds now as opposed to, say, Season 1.)
    3. It reminds us how some kids really are. Let's face it, there's more than one "Cartman" out there. "Kids are so selfish," says Stone. "Part of being a kid is just being a big jerk."
    4. They keep it current. It takes nine months for most animated shows to be produced, but South Park is done in six days thanks to a cohesive, veteran staff and a cutting-edge computer process. Their "Passion of the Christ" parody ["The Passion of the Jew"] aired only a month after the film was released.
    5. It's still the same two guys putting it together. Parker and Stone have been there from Day 1 and their enthusiasm remains undiminished. "After 10 years," says Stone, "you look back and grudgingly go, 'Aw, OK, I'm kind of proud of that.' We've actually been through quite a bit. So... cool."

The Boys were first introduced in the 1995 Nancy Clue book, "A Ghost in the Closet." I wonder if that ghost was Trapped in the Closet. Man, I have a such a hard raging clue right now...   11. October 27, 2006 - Check out these three articles: 'South Park' makes fun of Irwin death, Oh my god, South Park mocks Irwin (notice the stingray back in place), Irwin cartoon outrage. I suppose the offensive thing was the stingray still attached to Irwin's chest, 'cause nothing else struck me as offensive towards him - it's a mercy that he was kicked out for not wearing a costume, or the lampooning could have been worse. The presence of naked kids on leashes wasn't all that offensive either, as no physical relations between them and their priest-handlers were performed... onscreen, at least.
  12. October 28, 2006 - South Park doesn't hesitate to make fun of anything, so it's not afraid of losing fans. The following articles show that you're a fan of the show until it gets around to offending someone or something dear to you, so you're best advised that if you hold something dear, you may want to avoid the show from now on.     Cartman’s plan to propel himself into the future goes horribly wrong. South Park Elementary faces strong opposition to the topic of evolution being taught to the 4th graders. The most vocal protests are from Ms. Garrison who has to teach it. Eric Cartman can’t be bothered with what’s going on in class. He’s busy manipulating his own personal time-line to align with the precise release date of the newest, hottest game.

    Cartman's crank calling himself from the future. Cartman's stuck in a future where otters ride ostriches. Last week Eric Cartman froze himself in an attempt to make his three-week wait for a hot, new, gaming device pass quickly. A freak accident landed him over 500 years in the future and now he's stuck there. The future is a tumultuous place with warring factions, angry sea otters and no Nintendo. Will Cartman find a way back to his own time?
    And now, a book on South Park and philosophy, You Know I Learned Something Today, due out next month, has 22 chapters on Metaphysics, Epistemology, Logic, Social and Ethics. I'm still waiting for "Blame Canada"...
  14. November 13, 2006 - What's Stan's job? I'm thinking a paper route for a real job (turns out it was. :D). If the job has to do with hockey, then it's that of star player.

  15. November 16, 2006 - Mark your calendars! Season 11 begins on March 7th, 2007, according to the FAQ at South Park Studios. And the season 9 DVD comes out on March 6, according to TV Shows On DVD.
  16. November 29, 2006 - Anyone looking for a real Towelie towel? The kind you can take to the beach and sun yourself on? Comedy Central has them on sale now, for $24.20 (Check the last three numbers in the price. :D). I don't think it talks like the small Towelie plush did, though. It also has figurines on sale now, the plush phase having passed into history. EBay has a bunch of plushes though. Get what you can! :)
  17. December 6, 2006 - Well, "Oh my God! They killed Kenny!" came in at #35 at TV Land's 100 greatest TV quotes and catchphrases, but you can make a difference as far as fan polls go. :) Right now, at 2:30 pm PST, it's at #8-#12 (it's tied with four other shows). "D'oh" is at #1, understandably.
