"Pandemic"

Movie and Episode References

  1. Cloverfield - Randy filming the giant guinea pig attack with his video camera.
  2. The Blair Witch Project - "I'm so... startled." The original line is "I'm so scared," but there aren't many truly scary movies out there. Most "scary" moves just startle you.
  3. Scarface - all the pan flute players being sent to the internment camp in Miami.
  4. Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay - The boys being interrogated at the internment camp and then being sent off on a flight. In the movie, the interrogation itself could be a reference to Scarface
  5. "The China Probrem" - Kyle remembering that Indiana Jones was raped in Peru. Some of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull does take place there.
  6. Early South Park - South Park being destroyed by something or other, but now other cities around the world are being destroyed too.

The guinea pig is a food source in Peru.

There's a reason why Michael Chertoff chose to get rid of Craig: Craig is the only kid in South Park to have a pet guinea pig. In "Craig vs. Tweek" we learn he has such a pet and called it "Stripe." But it's never been seen, and he didn't seem to have it with him, which is why Chertoff wants him out of the way. Without Stripe, Craig has no way of stopping the Rise of the Guinea Pigs Chertoff is planning.

"la muerte peluda" - the furry death, evidently death by giant guinea pig.

The Peruvian pan pipe is called either a siku or a zampoņa. The small guitar-like instrument is called a charango, and the drum is called a bombo.

Sharon and Shelley were watching TV when Randy came in with his video camea. The commercial playing at the time: Wild Wacky Action Bike.

Craig and his parents now have a last name: Tucker.

The anchorman is called Tom once again. Last year he was Steven.
