The Secrets of
"Chickenlover"

¡Dios mio, han matado a Kenny! ¡Bastardos!
Oh my God… you know the rest.
And then there's "FqU"…

The booktastic driver's outfit reminds me of PBS's The Reading Rainbow, hosted by LeVar Burton. The show is all about the adventures one can have when reading a good book. There's a bit of fitness guru Richard Simmons and of magician Doug Henning in the librarian's mannerisms.

While Kyle rates the books he's looking over, Stan picks out a book called "Sabrina Unchained" and says so. Cartman picks out "Body to Body", but that changes to "Sabrina Encounters", then back to "Body to Body". And the cover Cartman ends up looking at is a scanned image, rather then the hand-drawn one shown earlier. Kenny's book has "Sabrina" on the back cover also. In fact, none of the covers is on the front panel of any of the books, and the books the boys choose seem to be of the "Sabrina" series. So the full titles are:
On The Back CoverThe Binding
Sabrina: UnchainedSabrina Unchained
Sabrina: Seduction ChamberSeduction Chamber
Sabrina: Bound to LoveBound to Love
Sabrina: The Adrien EncounterSabrina Encounters
Sabrina: Body to Body
Does all this imply a fascination with "Sabrina: The Teenage Witch"?

Dorothy Palmore - Ever heard of Louis Lamour?

"FORGET. FORGET." - from the short, Your Studio and You, where the narrator tells the stars to forget that any other studios exist.

Barbrady is married, but he and his wife do not eat together. She orders a pizza, but he goes for cheeseburgers (2) and jalapeño peppers. Before he gets to Fran's he stops at a stop sign. Its letters change into the Korean symbols for fool, idiot, or dumbass.

If the dispatcher is right, South Park Elementary is on (maybe 253) Avenue de los Mexicanos

CTF 1138 (Barbrady's license plate) - Well, there's THX 1138, an early George Lucas work, but there's more...
When George Lucas lived in the San Francisco Bay area, where the tunnel scenes in THX were filmed, one of his phone numbers was 849-1138, or as a mnemonic, THX-1138.
Source: THX 1138

Other facts about the number 1138:

  1. It is Princess Leia's cell in the Death Star in Star Wars: A New Hope (Luke: "Prisoner transfer from cell block 1138.")
  2. The "shell dwellers" in THX served as the basis for the Jawas in Star Wars.
  3. The sound made by the staves which the robots use to condition prisoners are remarkably similar to the lightsaber sound effect.
  4. Star Wars was, at one point, going to be a prequel to THX, with the character who would become Luke Skywalker conceived as a young THX.
  5. The licence plate number on Milner's deuce coupe in American Graffiti was THX 138.
  6. During the car chase scene, someone can be heard over the intercom saying "I think I ran over a Wookiee back there on the expressway." As any good Star Wars fan can tell you, Chewbacca is a Wookiee.
  7. In The Empire Strikes Back, General Rieekan says, "Send Rogues ten and eleven to station three-eight."
  8. Not from a Lucas movie, but in The Lawnmower Man, the experimental chimp is named Rosco 1138.
  9. The battle droid who loses its head in The Phantom Menace has the number "1138" on its back.
The license plate is shared by at least two other vehicles: the car that was overturned on Kenny, and the car belonging to the john interested in Cartman (who is undercover and dressed as a prostitute at the time).

Chickenfucker - Remember the goat sucker, El Chupacabras?

The rancher's report is inconsistent. He says he caught a guy having sex with his chickens, but then says he didn't see a thing. How could he have caught anyone if he didn't see anything? And if he didn't see anything, then the Booktastic bus driver is a quick-change artist with tear-away clothes.

New Motto for the South Park Police Department: To Serve and Neglect

Not Without My Anus revisited - Barbrady's shirt heals itself just after he tears his badge off it, just as Terrance's shirt did during Scott's cross.

Cheeky! During the rioting, the symbol and the 4 are taken away from the news set, though they are simply images projected onto the screen and are not actually on the set. A similar symbol can be found in Duke Nukem 3D in several levels.

One of the reporters asking the Mayor about Officer Barbrady hosted the South Park Elementary Holiday Experience the previous Christmas.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - second in the Chronicles of Narnia written by C. S. Lewis

Carla Weathers' chicken - Carla Weathers is a play on Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in Rocky II, and he called Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) an Italian Chicken. So Balboa was Creed's chicken. Eeps.

Further proof that the McCormick family is white trash

  • Mr. McCormick comes out with a black eye and a beer bottle in his hand.
  • A lot of people live there, and they're all soiled.
  • The Booktastic Bus Driver must have had some inside information on Babrady, since he committed his first molestation before Barbrady admitted to being illiterate.

Jesus is becoming quite a fixture in South Park. Watch the Lord do chauffeur work as he drives Barbrady and the kids down the street during the parade.

When the Braniff logo appears, chickens are heard instead of the usual jingle.

    South Park Layout

South Park Elementary is in the Downtown area. Kenny lives on the lower east side of town, but either four or seven blocks from the school, on the same street: Avenue de los Mexicanos. Tom's Rhinoplasty is on the west side of town. Cartman lives on the east side of town. Stan and Kyle must live between Cartman and Kenny. All four of them must meet at the bus stop on the east side of Avenue de los Mexicanos every morning to be picked up, since it is the most direct route to school. This means Ms. Crabtree drives in from the south or southeast. Since Cartman arrived at Kenny's house from the right, he came in from the north, which means Kenny lives on the west side of Avenue de los Mexicanos. This is backed up by the address, 635 - odd addresses are often on the west side of a street. After school, Ms. Crabtree drops the boys off a block or two after Kenny's house. South Park is not necessarily small in area, as Palmdale, in Southern California, has large blocks compared to Los Angeles.

Hot Carl - a very attractive man, even to homosexuals.
