The Secrets of
"Asspen"

by Wild Willie Westwood, with sources from all over the Web

First song used here: "Take On Me" by A-ha. Tad is seen skiing during that song - the scene is replayed later when Tad and Stan compete the first time. This song was also in Baseketball, but performed by Reel Big Fish.

Prahda = Prada
Kucci = Gucci
Tiffany's Aspen = Tiffany & Co.
Bernie's = Barney's
K-13 = K-12

Yes, the Broflovskis are Russian Jews.

A Hitler is a variation of a Filthy Sanchez (see the secrets of "Proper Condom Use" for that word)

Ike knows his own name now, being three.

Ike crashes through the wall of a lodge, leaving a big gaping hole. The lodge is repaired when the story goes back to the boys on the bunny slope

When Butters tells Thumper "That's my face sir.", Cartman has no ski goggles. But in the next scene, he does.

Pizza - the wedge position
French fries - the skiing position

Apparently, time-share involves food-share as well.

Although the episode is drenched in 1980s nostalgia, extreme sports is mentioned. Come to think of it, there's Aspen Extreme, mentioned below. That could be the source of "extreme sports."

Stan is still eight.

Stan's skis and poles disappear when the teenage girl talks to Stan after the first race.

Part of the express lift's foot rest disappears as the lift goes up the hill, when Randy Marsh says, "Well, this certainly is nice."

Where is Ike? He's not with the parents in the meetings, and he's not with boys after Stan loses to Tad the first time.

Second song: "Safety Dance," by Men Without Hats.

The "hangout in danger of being closed" scene was lifted from "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo."

The mechanic from "Butters' Very Own Episode," and all he entails, returns for this episode.

Montage - "Scarface (Put It To The Limit)" by Paul Engemann, from Scarface.

K-13 replaces the other mountains when Stan and Tad go to race on it.

One good concern deserves another — Kyle is concerned that Stan might die on K-13, as Stan was concerned that Kyle might die from bad kidneys in "Cherokee Hair Tampons."

Ike is back with the boys after Stan wins the K-13 ski run. Phew.

Third song: "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds, from The Breakfast Club.

The girl who helped the boys out had two dying Kuatos, from Total Recall, under her sweater: In Total Recall Kuato said "Quaid... Start the Reactor..." to make oxygen on Mars

For such a tony place, you'd think Aspen Heaven's clock would keep the right time, but the clocks at the time-share meeting rooms don't move an inch in a day and a half.

This is straight from South Park Studios: We parodied several 80's ski movies in the "Asspen" episode, like "Hot Dog: The Movie," "Ski School," "Ski Patrol," "Aspen Extreme," and "Better off Dead." (Lane must prepare for the skiing race of his life to get his old girlfriend back!) They neglect to mention "One Crazy Summer" (Cassandra save her grandfather's house from the greedy Beckersted Family.) Both Better off Dead and One Crazy Summer are John Cusack films, and one of the background characers is said to resemble Cusack. Changes made since the first airing of the ep: The opening credits now have an instrumental verison of "Take On Me" while the closing credits have sound now - a lame cover of "Take On Me."
