The Secrets of
"Simpsons Already Did It"

by Wild Willie Westwood, with sources from all over the Web

Professor Chaos enters the opening credits in a few places. He runs up to the South Park sign and knocks it down ("The Butters Show" is gone).

Tweek, and then Stan and Kyle, make references to the original SOXMAS short, Jesus Vs. Frosty. But in that short, only the four boys appeared with Frosty and Baby Jesus. And their clothes were much different then, their appearance not so different. Kenny was present for that one, but Tweek has been around long enough to have heard the story.

Negative Nancy - Man, haven't heard that since Garrison used it in "Weight Gain 4000."

In Cartman's "Sea People" song, the castle shown is like the castle in Disney's The Little Mermaid.

The sea people are real. They are based on the sea monkeys! Thanks to ginch for posting this on the OrgazmoDVD message board. :D

John Wesley Powell

The boys are present when Ms. Choksondik's corpse is taken away.

South Park Town Square - no more Kenny McCormick Memorial Town Square, so Kenny just might return somewhere down the line.

Diane Choksondik.

Chef's TV is back in place. Looks like he's mastered the remote control for that thing. :)

Why did the light at the table Kyle went to first turn off, then on again later?

The floor tiles are dark cyan on cyan from normal views, cyan on dark cyan overhead.

Though the hospital is Hell's Pass Hospital, the name on the vial Cartman opens up is South Park Hospital, same as the ambulance.

Cartman goes to sleep in his street clothes, but arrives at the bus stop in his pajamas.

The Simpsons aren't so clever as General Disarray thought, but Professor Chaos' plan is thwarted once again.

Mr. Garrison had no trouble recognizing Butters when Professor Chaos was in front of Wink-E Mart.

"I'm one of the leading sea men authorities of the Midwest." - Technically, Colorado is part of the West, not part of the Midwest.

When the various invited people gather in Cartman's room, Mr. Hat is back on Mr. Garrison's hand.

The perspective from which the sea ciety is shown parallels many sims games, especially those in which you get to determine how your civilization grows and thrives.

Butters (inadvertently) reveals that he intends to take over the world, which he is trying to do as Professor Chaos. No one else seems worried about this at all, but are just glad to see that he's back to normal.

A Tribute To The Simpsons

  1. The plan to block out the sun comes from 2F16 - Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part 1. Mr. Burns used a machine instead of a wooden shade.
  2. The removal of the head of the statue is from 7G07 - The Tell Tale Head, which appears on the first season DVD.
  3. The idea to make the townsfolk buy into a monorail and then skip town with their money was done by the Simpsons, but also by Satan when he, and only he, bet on Jesus to win their boxing match. Satan made off with all their money. The episode Dougie mentions is actually the season 4 episode 9F10: Marge Vs. The Monorail, not 204 (but see "Ike's Wee Wee" for a Simpsons reference when Mr. Mackey heads for the bar). The Simpsons' numbering is different from South Park's.
  4. The idea to starting a website is from the season 12 episode, CABF02 - The Computer Wore Menace Shoes - only here it's vicious rumors rather than odd stories.
  5. The idea of putting wings on a skeleton is from the season 9 episode 5F05 - Lisa The Skeptic.
  6. The soccer idea was from an ep from the season 9 episode - 5F01 - The Cartridge Family.
  7. The creation of a huge beer keg comes from the season 4 episode 9F17: So It's Come To This, but Dougie left out the rest of the title - A Simpsons Clip Show
  8. Butters wanting to run away and join the circus comes from 3F21 - Homerpalooza, where Homer joins a rock concert tour with sideshow acts. He becomes a sideshow act, catching cannonballs with his belly.
  9. At last count (as of 05/22/2002) there are 292 episodes, not 132, as Butters claims (er, 133, as per the episode that was about to air).
  10. The two gods theme at the end of this episode originally came from the Twilight Zone's episode 93 - The Little People. The Simpsons reference is from episode 4F02 - Treehouse of Horror VII segment, "The Genesis Tub." And this particular segment goes back to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (the Genesis device which makes it possible for Spock's body to regenerate and host him again).
snpp.com is a great Simpsons resource. :)

Changes from commercial to episode

In the commercial for the episode, when Cartman gets up in the middle of the morning.. his clock reads 4:25, and in the episode it reads 5:03.

Post subject: SOUTH PARK ON THE SIMPSONS!
NO! I'M NOT KIDDING YOU! THE ADVANTAGES TO WORKING IN THELEVISION, YOU GET TO SEE EVERYTHING MANY HOURS BEFORE IT HITS YOUR TELEVISION!!! At the begining of Sunday night's Simpsons, the shows creators finally strike back from the episodes "The Simpsons Already Did It."
Trust me gang, its fully worth seeing! I won't give away much, but I will say this... it involves O.J. Simpson. THAT'S ALL THE PROOF YOU NEED TO SEE IT!

April 18, 2003, that night

[Bart and Milhouse watching South Park. The South Park characters are drawn in Simpsons style.]
Milhouse: "I hear those kids' voices are done by grownups"
Bart: "Hey, there's nothing wrong with that. I just wonder how they keep it so fresh after 43 episodes."
[Next scene: the SP boys are at the South Park Forum.]
Stan: "I can't believe we paid to see a band with Steve Gutenberg, Calista Flockhart, and Farty the Crippled Robot!"
Farty: [on stage, playing a guitar] "look who's in my fart. O.J." [Farty farts and O.J. appears in the brown cloud.]
O.J.: "I'm gonna kill you all." [destroys Farty, then goes after the band, cutting their heads off.]
Bart and Milhouse: [dance around] "Cartoon Violence! Cartoon Violence!"
O.J.: [has Cartman's dripping head on his knife] "Now I'm going to find the real killer."
[Marge comes in and turns off the TV.]
Bart and Milhouse: [startled] "AAAAAAAA!!!"
Marge: "Kids, that cartoon is not life-affirming. We're going to watch a show about the everyday problems of angels."
[She turns on the TV and changes the channel to PAX TV.]
Announcer: "Now, back to "Good Heavens."
Elderly Woman: "Jesus called today."
Elderly Man: "He did??"
Bart and Milhouse: [run out of the house screaming, with their hands on their ears] AAAAAAAA!!!
