The Secrets of
"Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society"

Red finally speaks!

"Eric, what we're gonna do is learn to hide our emotions with math problems." - it's often true that people interested in math or science repress their emotions. Consider Star Trek's Mr. Spock.

Craig is incredibly blasé, but even that melts away when he looks at Bebe.

Sometimes, Stan's voice shakes, sometimes it booms enough to sound like Craig, Clyde, or Cartman.

Butters seems to not mind taking the fall if the target of the boys' antics should get mad. Maybe he put Professor Chaos behind him.

The rock formation the boys are standing on resembles rock formations used in zoos to house the great apes.

The SUV Token struck is Jimbo's. He and Ned are driving by. I'm surprised Stan and Kyle didn't stop Token from throwing the rock or tell him to wait for the next vehicle.

Butters seems more interested than most as to a girl's development. He's the only one in the back row to get up and try to get a better look at Bebe when she arrives, and touches Wendy's new breasts to see how they feel.

Red is with Wendy and two other girls in the cafeteria rather than with her usual partner, Keven C.

Cartman usually arrives at the bus stop from screen right. When Bebe replaces him he arrives from screen left.

"The vote was last fall!" - This means that the kids are now in late winter or spring of fourth grade.

After Butters says "Stupid as in Bebe!" Craig answers with "Yeah!" But it's Butters' voice you hear, not Craig's.

"Is Bebe Home?" - It's Kyle you hear and Stan you see when this line is uttered.

What are the Cartmans doing with a display case full of fossils?

Bebe Stevens. No relation to Ms. Stevens, the substitute teacher who took the class to the rainforest.

We get to see Bebe's and Wendy's mothers, and we have Bebe's address - 2010.

Bebe's mother reminds me of Ms. Havesham in "405 - Great Expectations" both in the way she talks and in her talks with Bebe about the power of Bebe's breasts. Both women talk about the dark side of a woman's power.

This ep says that plastic surgeons are much more willing to augment breasts than reduce them, and that the highest bidder will get the procedure first.

Movie references:
  1. Lord of the Flies - The boys' behavior around Bebe's boobs whenever she's around. Stan's victory with the bone is taken from the movie version.
  2. Silence of the Lambs - Cartman playing with his toys in the basement. From the Silence of the Lambs screenplay:
MR. GUMB: [aka "Buffalo Bill," holds a little white poodle in his arms, stroking it.] "Rub the cream on your skin. Rub it in gooood... Rub it in! Or you'll get the hose again. [The little dog squirms in his arms, BARKING excitedly] Yes, it will, Precious, won't it? It will get the hose!
  3. 2001 - Stan weilding a bone and beating everyone up with it.
  4. Planet of the Apes - the boys acting as apes and astronauts finding themselves in the "future" only to see humans regressed as far as the boys had.
