I'm a little bit country I'm a little bit rock 'n roll I'm a little bit of Memphis and Nashville With a little bit of Motown in my soul Don't know if it's good or bad But I know I love it so I'm a little bit country I'm a little bit rock 'n roll |
The music genres were chosen because a lot of rock musicians are anti-war, and most country musicians are pro-war. The accompanying stereotypes shown are that country fans are poor, simple, and uneducated, while rock fans are rich, sophisticated, and educated.
The signs the boys receive:
Stan: War is Not My Voice (a jab at Not In Our Name)
Kyle: No Blood for Oil
Cartman: No War
Kenny: Bush is a Nazi
HBC news is on Channel 4.
"I'm trying to have a flashback" - you can't have one unless you actually lived it. Cartman can't have a flashback about 1776, because he was born in the 20th century.
Cartman's method of learning his subject material was done by Bill and Ted in the Bill and Ted movies - they would often try and ace their reports by imagining what the events were like instead of studying up on them.
Skeeter is a study in contradiction: he was the one who painted the white line across the street to divide the town, and then he's the one to try and reconcile the town - by getting the townsfolk to fight like they used to rather than divide.
The musician on the protest side of the stage: Slash on guitar, Mick Fleetwood on drums. But who is the blond guitar player? Who is the keyboardist?
Skeeter's "Did you forget" part spoofs "Have You Forgotten" by Darryl Worley.
Eighty-seven hours is three days, 15 hours. For it to be daylight in both scenes, the rally would need to begin an hour before sunset on Saturday and still be going strong on Wednesday morning.
Notice that most of the signs used to kill the townsfolk are anti-war signs.
John Dickinson wanted to reconcile the Colonies back to England, and so abstained from signing the Declaration of Independence.
The date on the calendar behind and to the right of Hancock is June 26. Evidently, Jefferson had the Declaration delivered to Congress on that day, then showed up sometime later himself to sit in on the debate. The actual day Jefferson presented the Declaration to Congress was June 28, 1776 - personally, not via messenger boy.
"...for one People to rise up..." - The actual Declaration has "...for one People to dissolve..."
Congressman #3 is Stephen Hopkins from Rhode Island. In the musical 1776, Hopkins is portrayed as a sort of "colonial redneck", always drinking and speaking in a less sophisticated manner as the rest of the "gentlemen." (thanks, Brian and Mike)
