Movie References
Red Dawn
- The episode's title.
- The paratroopers landing near the school and harming the teacher = the Soviets doing the same thing, but killing the teacher. In each case, the lesson being taught at the time was Genghis Khan.
- The old people putting all the troublemakers into camps with a big screen = the Soviets doing the same to the townsfolk, with a large projector.
- "Avenge me, Avenge me!" - said by a father in the movie.
- The boys going off into the woods to fight the invaders and making plans to fight off the invaders = the high schoolers doing the same against the Soviets.
- "Night of Horror"
Night of The Living Dead
- Randy and the boys hiding out at the lodge, only to find old people and their cars, instead of zombies, everywhere they go. Love that one woman driving up the stairs after the group. :D
Jaws
- A slow-moving vehicle instead of a slow-moving shark, but the fisherman looks wary either way, and the background music matches.
Network
- "We need to let everyone know we're pissed off, and we're not gonna take it anymore!" = "I'm as mad as Hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" The defiant tone is not as forceful in the old man's voice, though.
Holy Grail
- Randy running across the fields warning everybody to get off the streets while running towards the boys is similar to Sir Lancelot running towards the castle to save the Prince.

Light standards. You don't see them on the show unless there's something to be hung from them.
Country Kitchen Buffet = any such buffet you can think of: Colonial Buffet, Old Country Buffet, HomeTown Buffet, South Park's own King Jimmy's Buffet — Which means there's more than one buffet in town now. I have seen this in a few threads and messages as well: Country Kitchen. It's not a buffet restaurant, but the portions are pretty big.
Stuff at the farmer's market: "Kettle Corn, $5.00 a bag," "Home Made Candy," "Mother's Jerky," "Fresh Vegetables," "Organic Farms," "Sonia's Fresh Flowers."
Costello Avenue is a street in Florissant, Teller County, Colorado.
Interesting that Cartman would pray the Hail Mary after blaspheming her son some time prior.
More proof that Marvin Marsh doesn't need his motorized wheelchair or Hov-Around: he can drive, and he can stand and walk with a cane.
US Geological Service = US Geological Survey
Cartman seems to have developed an appetite for trying to get Kyle killed as soon as he can (he also wants to kill Token and rip Butters' balls off someday, lol). Earlier, he just hated Kyle without acting on it.
Nods to previous episodes
- "Mostly hippies go to farmer's markets. Mostly" - harkens back to "Cat Orgy" and Aliens
- Grandpa Marsh, not featured so prominently since "Death."
- USGS, from "Volcano." Randy is made aware of something going on outside once again.
- Randy's line, "That's our Grandpa" and the ensuing laughter echoes Stan's line in "Death," "That's my silly grampa." After that line, the family laughs.
- Kenny being in constant danger of dying brings back the suggestion that maybe he will die again someday. Maybe.
