The highway number is right, but the designation is wrong. What crosses Colorado is US 285, not Interstate 285, which circles downtown Atlanta.
The watch shown when breaking news hits is the 60 Minutes watch.
Aaron Brown is an actual reporter at CNN.
The time portal doesn't quite follow the Terminator rule, which dictates that you come through the portal naked. No goo or clothing is found on your person when you arrive..
"Since they offer to work for such low wages, they're being hired all over America" - This is half of the equation, for low-paying jobs. High-paying jobs are being outsourced to other countries, where the natives will earn less than Americans would earn here for the same jobs, but more than they earn with native companies.
People seen in the audience of unemployed workers: Jimbo, Ned, Skeeter, Thomas, Denkins, Hat McCullough
As you can see from the title changes, the goo was originally something something you'd get crossing the Rio Grande, but since the immigrants are from the future, there was no river to cross, and the goo's composition changed. Since anything on the front of the body is more easily removed than anything on the back, goo is more easily seen on the back, and so, goobacks.
How did the immigrants go from traveling back 1000 years to traveling back 2000 years? The year of origin, 3045, didn't change any. And why wasn't 1041 used?
"pissed-off white-trash redneck conservative ... aging hippie liberal douche" - Matt and Trey make fun of both sides of the political spectrum, but the left pisses them off more often than the right does. Remember that the town of South Park is redneck, right-wing, white-trash, and kickass, according to the "Mountain Town" reprise in SP:BLU. Matt and Trey's political leanings stem from their childhoods in small towns such as South Park.
Darryl Weathers bears a striking resemblance to Jeff Foxworthy. Is that on purpose?
"Futurespeak" - oblique reference to the possibility that English may one day lose its place as the national tongue to Spanish, given all the Spanish-speaking immigrants, legal and illegal, crossing the border between the US and Mexico. The tongue you may hear among housekeepers and other low-income workers may one day be the tongue of your grandchildren - your futurespeak. But note the episode's own assertion that English may change so much that it will be unrecognizable after absobing so many words from the rest of the world's languages.
"The sad girl puts balls in her mouth." - Mr. Garrison actually writes "The sad girl loves to put balls in her mouth."
"So it appears the government ain't gonna help us!" - this appears to be the case concerning the border between the US and Mexico. Among conservative talk show hosts there's a call to send US troops to the border to stem the flow of illegal aliens coming into the US. The main reason is to cut off the low wages illegals are willing to work for, but now the specter of terrorism has added the fear that terrorists will come into the US as illegal aliens and plan attacks against the US from within. The same concern applies to the Canadian border. A new wrinkle has appeared in the form of matricular cards the Mexican consulates in California cities have been handing out to illegal aliens who seek work here - those cards function as valid ID cards and afford them services normally restricted to citizens and permanent residents, which seems unfair to the latter two groups.
The clean-shaven man in the moving business in the first rally meeting appears with thick sideburns in the second rally meeting. He appears again later without the sideburns
Wendy's Burgers is mentioned at the beginning of the ep, but Wendell's Burgers is the one shown.
The alphabet used in Little Future should be familiar to anyone who worked with DOS 10-20 years ago - they were ASCII characters produced with Alt-nnn codes where nnn was greater than 175 and less than 225. The symbols were used to make tables and forms back when all text was monospaced.
"I ain't turnin' queer" - Jimbo isn't as gay as "It Hits The Fan" would have us believe.
Randy Marsh takes over for Darryl Weathers rather quickly.
Actual freeway sign in California, near the Mexican border:
"I think it's wrong to call them goobacks because they're no different from us." - What a lesson for Stan to learn, since he was the first to call them goobacks.
You can see the Goth kids and the Raisins girls among the people cleaning up the meadow during the concluding song.
The Stock numbers shown in the CNN bar do not change. Neither does the weather for Seattle, San Francisco, New York and Houston. And the design used is different than the one actually used on CNN.
