When the boys want to swear, they use more innocuous words like spit for shit, crud for crap, and "son of a biscuit!" Does Little League ask its players to keep the language clean, or is this in anticipation of the censorship syndication brings with it? Or both?
The scoreboard doesn't know what the score it. When Morgan Pratt is first batting the score is "South Park 1 Fort Collins 0." Then the score changes to "South Park 0 Fort Collins 0." And then the score changes again to "South Park 0 Fort Collins 1."
The song playing during the playoffs is Joe "Bean" Esposito's "You're The Best" from The Karate Kid, but sped up somewhat. This is also the song Randy is singing in falsetto as he goes after Bat Dad in the South Park bullpen in Coors Field.
"Here we go, Denver, here we go! Huh, huh!" - variation on the Cows cheer Chef led the kids on when they were on their way to Denver for a dodgeball game back in "Conjoined Fetus Lady."
Kenny is recognizable in his team uniform, but doesn't say a word. When the team meets Kyle's cousin at the airport, all the boys, including Kenny, are in their street clothes.
Timmy is there, too, but doesn't play. You can see him with the others at Whistlin' Willy's.
The patrol car waiting for Randy in Fort Collins... is a South Park patrol car.
Bat Dad is called Tom Nelson when Chris the reporter is filing his report with News 4, but a woman calls him Chris during the big game. He is modeled after Colorado pro wrestler Vader (aka Leon White).
Kyle from "The Entity" is Kyle Schwartz.
There is a framed picture of Stan and his sister on the wall, although Mr. and Mrs. Marsh would be staying in a hotel room while in Denver for the finals. I wonder if the hotel made them pay extra for that...
Baseball scoreboards have the Visitor row above the Home row (this is because the visiting team bats first in an inning), but in all the games leading up to Denver, South Park was the visiting team. Their stats should not have appeared in the Home row.
Bat Dad certainly isn't interested in the score, or he'd have berated Denver for allowing South Park to have such a high score.
Mickey - Rocky Balboa's manager in the Rocky films. There's a lot of Rocky references in this episode.
Two Bill Conti pieces from Rocky play when Randy and Bat Dad fight in the dugout. The one you hear during the fight is "Fanfare for Rocky." The one you hear after Randy is arrested again is "Final Bell." You'd think they'd use kids' voices when South Park's team chanted Randy's name. This was fixed for Saturday's airing.
triplemultiplex checked up on Coors Field's dimensions and came up with the following errors:
They got the 415 to center correct as well as the 375 to right-center, but they put in two 415s where there's only one.
The 375 behind Butters when he catches the fly ball in left-center should be 390.
Also the 250 behind cousin Kyle in left field should be 347.
Randy and Bat Dad's fight spills from the centerfield seats into the bullpen in center field. The exit from the bullpen reads "South Access" but center field is on the north end of the stadium.
But then, what's a bullpen doing behind the center field wall? The bullpens are either near the dugouts or next to the foul poles. The fight takes place in the stands near center field and moves towards right field, near the foul pole, so the exit makes more sense that way. Still, it's odd that the kids and umpires run to the center field wall and end up at the dugout.
When Randy first gets out of jail, he gets 2 beers handed to him. Seconds later it zooms in and out showing only 1 beer in his hand.
Moca Cola.
In some shots, Denver's fat baseball player has darker eyes than he should have.
The Denver pitcher has a faint shadow of a moustache. That would make him older than his fellow players, which means he could be another Danny Almonte, the unbelievable pitcher from a Bronx little league team made of all Latino kids....but not so unbelievable when he was found to be 14 and not 12. (Thanks, nobby)
Saturday correction: "ref" has been correctly replaced with "ump" at the beginning of the episode.
